Chelsea have completed the signing of Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg on a contract until 2033.
In January, the clubs reached a €14million (£11.9m; $14.4m) agreement for the centre-back to move at the end of the season.
The France Under-20 international has been signed in time to be included in Enzo Maresca’s squad for the Club World Cup.
Ligue 1 club Strasbourg and Chelsea are owned by multi-club ownership group BlueCo.

The 19-year-old defender has signed an eight-year deal at Chelsea after making 28 first-team appearances in 2024-25 for Strasbourg, who qualified for next season’s Conference League through their seventh-place league finish.
Sarr spent six years in the Lens youth academy before spending six seasons at Lyon and spending the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Belgian side Daring Brussels, formerly RWD Molenbeek.

Chelsea rate Sarr highly and always wanted him to join up with the squad as soon as possible.
He will be part of the senior group that is going to USA to play at the FIFA World Cup and it gives him an opportunity to learn Enzo Maresca’s methods as well as getting to know his new team-mates.

There are obviously other centre-backs at the club ahead of the 19-year-old in the pecking order. He is still relatively inexperienced and has to adapt to English football. But after considering loaning him back to Strasbourg at one point, Chelsea now look keen to have him involved.
The squad will come under greater strain next season now that they are back in the Champions League. While Chelsea have not ruled out buying another centre-back this summer, they do not feel under pressure to do so and Sarr is one of the reasons why.
