The SEC dominated the Women’s College World Series selection show, nabbing seven of the top eight seeds in this year’s tournament. For the third year in a row, a different team topped the bracket. For the first time in program history, it was Texas A&M.

Texas A&M (45-9) snagged the No. 1 overall seed, which was announced during the selection show on ESPN on Sunday night, and Oklahoma (45-7) followed as the No. 2 seed.

Oklahoma is looking for its fifth straight title. Sam Landry — the right-handed pitcher transfer from Louisiana — leads the new-look Sooners, who returned only a handful of starters from their 2024 title run.

Florida (43-14), Arkansas (40-12), Florida State (46-9), Texas (46-10), Tennessee (40-14) and South Carolina (40-15) round out the top eight, with the Seminoles of the ACC the only non-SEC team in the mix.

UCLA (49-10), LSU (41-14), Clemson (44-12), Texas Tech (45-12), Arizona (45-11), Duke (38-16), Alabama (37-21) and Oregon (47-7) finish off the top-16 teams, respectively.

Kicking things off, the top 16 seeds host the regional round, in which 16 four-team pods play a double-elimination tournament. The winner of each regional advances to the super regional round.

The remaining 16 teams play a best-of-3 series in the super regional round, where the higher of the two seeds plays host. The eight super regional winners move on to the WCWS for another double-elimination tournament. The final two teams then play a best-of-3 series for the national championship.

The regional round runs May 16-18 and the super regionals follow May 22-25. The WCWS starts May 29 and ends June 5-6.

The win improved the Detroit Tigers to an American League best 28-15. They've won 10 of their last 13 games. Here is Báez's two-homer night. When he's playing well, few players are as fun as El Mago. Tuesday was Báez's second career walk-off home run. He had one with the Chicago Cubs way back on May 8, 2016, against Blake Treinen and the Washington Nationals.  Báez also drew a walk and scored on catcher Carlos Narváez's throwing error on a pickoff play Tuesday. The big game raised his season batting line to .319/.357/.513 with five homers and 27 RBI. […]

What’s next for Cavaliers? How payroll could force Cleveland’s hand after early playoff exit

Getty Images What just happened? Less than two weeks ago, the Cleveland Cavaliers were fresh off of the greatest offensive series in NBA history. They won 64 games in the regular season, had the NBA's No. 1-ranked offense and the Defensive Player of the Year in Evan Mobley. With newly crowned Coach of the Year Kenny Atkinson leading the way, an Eastern Conference finals duel with the Boston Celtics felt preordained. The franchise's first trip to the NBA Finals without LeBron James was in reach. And now it's just... over? This is how cruel the NBA can be at its worst. The Cavaliers were largely competitive in their second-round series with the Pacers, at least outside of Game 4's blowout, but the playoff margins are razor thin. All it took were a few poorly timed injuries, one minute of botched officiating […]
