Na repercussão do importante anúncio feito por Marcelo Marques sobre a compra dos direitos da Arena, o que vai deixar o Grêmio muito próximo de administrar totalmente o seu estádio, o pré-candidato Paulo Caleffi decidiu, neste sábado, retirar a sua candidatura das eleições marcadas para este segundo semestre. Em áudio a apoiadores e amigos, explicou que um dos motivos é familiar e reconheceu, também, que tudo aponta para a vitória de Marques nas urnas gremistas.
Ex-vice de futebol no começo da gestão de Alberto Guerra, Caleffi já havia mostrado alguns dos seus planos para o Grêmio, como as contratações de Maicon e Danrlei como dirigentes do departamento de futebol. Ele também vinha assegurando ter um executivo já contratado para iniciar o trabalho em janeiro de 2026.
“Encaminhei meu texto nas redes ao próprio Marcelo Marques, que respondeu gentil a mim. Vou estar disponível para a chapa do Conselho avançar, mas compreendo que muitas vezes temos que dar um passo atrás e reconhecer que o momento é de outro. Como gremista, quero que o Marcelo tenha todo o sucesso possível”, disse Caleffi em áudio que circulou pela manhã.
Com isso, oficialmente, o Grêmio se mantém neste momento com quatro pré-candidatos. Além de Marcelo Marques, seguem disputando o pleito Denis Abrahão, Sérgio Canozzi e Gladimir Chiele. O atual mandatário Alberto Guerra, apto a concorrer, ainda não definiu oficialmente a sua posição nestas eleições.

Apesar de não ter deixado claro, Caleffi, em seu texto publicado na web para repercutir a compra da Arena, já indicava que abriria mão da candidatura. Ele parabenizou Marques pela aquisição e mostrou o seu lado gremista:
“Como torcedor do Grêmio, venho publicamente cumprimentar o Marcelo Marques e a sua equipe pelo êxito na complexa negociação realizada para compra da gestão da Arena. Diante desse movimento extremamente importante para a nossa história, compartilho o mesmo sentimento de toda a nação gremista, no sentido de que a partir de agora o Grêmio possa usufruir de todo o potencial da sua grandeza e da sua marca, inigualáveis no sul do Brasil. Seguimos sempre juntos pelas três cores, pois o Grêmio é nosso, e agora, a Arena também. Nada, absolutamente nada, pode ser maior”, postou Caleffi.

Alheio aos assuntos eleitorais extracampo, o time do Grêmio se concentra nas quatro linhas e espera fazer um bom retorno ao Brasileirão. Com as voltas de Kannemann, Villasanti e Braithwaite, a equipe comandada por Mano Menezes encara o vice-líder Cruzeiro neste domingo, a partir das 20h30, fora de casa.
