The 2025 NFL Draft is over and one of the biggest stories was the new team of superstar cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter: the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The AFC South team – one of only four teams that have never played in a Super Bowl, along with the Detroit Lions, the Houston Texans, and the Cleveland Browns – went all in in order to get the former Heisman Trophy winner.

The Jaguars traded their fifth overall pick in the first round, the 36th overall pick in the second round and the 126th overall pick in the fourth round, as well as a 2026 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for the rights of the second overall pick, the 104th overall pick in the fourth round, and the 200th overall pick in the sixth round.
Roger Goodell was completely shocked with the trade
The NFL commisioner was completely shocked with the trade the Jacksonville Jaguars had with the Cleveland Browns, as he learned about the move minutes before going on stage alongside Jags defensive end Arik Armstead, who read the pick.
As part of the trade, Jacksonville drafted former Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten, an explosive tester who could be terrific in a backfield share with superstar Travis Ettiene. His toughness and elite speed could make him a big-play specialist, according to NFL analyst Eric Edholm.
The Jaguars also picked safety Rayuan Lane III, who played for Navy. The young player roams the field with ball-hawking instincts and an impressive special teams resumé. He lacks length but is well-built and moves fluidly in space. Lane has enough talent to land as a backup safety and will likely stand out as a gunner on special teams.
The Jaguars are ready to be more aggresive
After an awful season that ended with a 4-13 record and third place on the AFC South, the Jacksonville Jaguars are ready to bounce back and be a more aggresive team with the goal of making it to the playoffs and hopefully start their road for the Super Bowl on the years to come.
First-year general manager James Gladstone understands the assignment very well, and he knows that drafting the right players is the first step on the pursuit of a championship mentality. The team selected nine players, four on offense, four on defense and wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter.
The idea entering the draft was to be bold – and to acquire intangibly-rich plays that fit a new organizational philosophy. “With every pick that was the priority,” head coach Liam Coen said. “That was very clear… tough resonates with all these guys, and guys that love football, that love the process that drives the results. So many captains out of this group and leaders and guys that have played a lot of snaps.”
