The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs did not have any sweeps, but two teams have a chance to advance to the second round on Tuesday. The Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes are both up 3-1 entering Game 5s.
The Leafs missed out on the chance for a sweep after an overtime loss in Game 4 on Saturday. In order to stay alive, Ottawa will have to win in Toronto. Carolina picked up a win in New Jersey in Game 4 and now has its first chance at a series-clinching win.

In the last games, Vegas hosts Minnesota and the LA Kings host Edmonton. Both of those series are tied 2-2.

Ottawa Senators at Toronto Maple Leafs Game 5
Maple Leafs lead series 3-1
Series odds: Maple Leafs -1400, Senators +850
The Ottawa Senators avoided elimination on Saturday with a 4-3 overtime win at home as Jake Sanderson scored in the dying minutes of OT to swing the Battle of Ontario back to Toronto for Game 5.
The Senators won the special teams battle and benefited from a hot start. To continue their comeback, they’ll need Linus Ullmark to come up big in Game 5, as Julian McKenzie discusses here.

The Carolina Hurricanes have a chance to put their series with the New Jersey Devils away at home, but questions about Frederik Andersen’s health loom large.
The Hurricanes took a 3-1 series lead over the weekend with a 5-2 Game 4 win but lost their goaltender to injury when Devils forward Timo Meier collided with the net during the second period. It was a controversial collision; Meier is no stranger to driving to the net, as Peter Baugh notes, and no penalty call came as a result. Pyotr Kochetkov took over in relief of Andersen, who had posted an impressive .943 save percentage over Games 1 through 3.

Minnesota Wild at Vegas Golden Knights Game 5

Wild-Golden Knights has been one of the best surprises of Round 1. A healthy Minnesota team, with Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek back, has been dynamic against Vegas, making this a much closer series than most anticipated.
The third period of Saturday’s Game 4 was electric. A double-minor for high-sticking gave Vegas a power play, which Nicolas Roy converted to tie the game. The coaches made a few line adjustments to get the top nine going, including separating Mark Stone and Jack Eichel, who have been pretty quiet on the scoresheet. Stone, after getting repairs, returned to pull the Golden Knights ahead. He shot the puck that essentially pinballed off Tomas Hertl (who was battling Ryan Hartman in front). Less than a minute later, Jared Spurgeon’s wrap-around game knotted this one back up to force overtime. It took 17:26 of overtime to determine a winner — Ivan Barbshev scored the game-winner to tie this series 2-2. — Shayna Goldman

Edmonton Oilers at Los Angeles Kings Game 5

The Kings just haven’t learned from their third-period mistakes. In Game 4, LA had a 3-1 lead going into the third period, and went into a defensive shell to protect that. The Kings didn’t push to create offense, with only 15 third-period shot attempts (only six of which went on goal) and instead focused on fending off a hungry Oilers team.
Edmonton put the pressure on with 33 shot attempts and was able to send two past Darcy Kuemper. Evan Bouchard, from Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, scored both third-period goals to force overtime. The Oilers maintained the edge in shot volume (31-17 attempts) and quality (77 percent five-on-five expected goal rate). With under three minutes left in overtime, Vladislav Gavrikov took a minor for tripping, and the Oilers made LA pay with a power play goal from Draisaitl to end Game 4 and tie the series.
