„Pavel patří k našim odchovancům a jsem rád, že se vrací ze zámoří s cílem probojovat se do základního kádru našeho mužstva. Prostor určitě dostane a pevně věřím, že rozšíří počet odchovanců, které se snažíme zabudovávat do mužstva,“ uvedl generální manažer Aleš Kmoníček.
Šimek si už během ročníku 2021/22 připsal právě v dresu Východočechů v pouhých 16 letech první dva extraligové starty. Ačkoliv byl tehdy blízko podpisu profesionální smlouvy s Mountfieldem, nakonec se rozhodl pro zámořskou cestu. Za Saint John, Rimouski nebo Charlottetown odehrál v QMJHL včetně play off celkem 194 utkání a připsal si 97 bodů za 42 gólů a 55 asistencí.
„Pavel je hradecký odchovanec, který se rozhodl vrátit ze zámoří domů. Dostane, stejně jako další naši mladí hráči juniorského věku, šanci si vybojovat místo v A-týmu. Samozřejmě bude záležet jenom na něm, ale jsem přesvědčený, že svou dravostí a pohybem má předpoklady se prosadit do základní sestavy,“ řekl hlavní kouč Tomáš Martinec.
