NEW YORK — At last, Juan Soto hit his first home run at Citi Field while wearing a New York Mets uniform. Then he hit another homer two innings later.
In the sixth inning during the Mets’ game Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Soto hit a solo home run, a no-doubter to left-center field with an estimated distance of 391 feet. Soto connected against a cutter down the middle from Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen for his fourth home run of the season.
His second home run, another opposite-field shot in the eighth inning, traveled 399 feet. Soto now has 24 career multi-homer games.

By his standards — and the standards of the richest contract in sports history — Soto is off to a slow start. He entered the game with a slash line of .241/.368/.384. Soto had been hitting balls hard. But his 55-percent ground-ball rate is above his norm.
Before joining the Mets, Soto had terrific career numbers at Citi Field (.333/.466/.709 with 12 home runs in 146 plate appearances).
