Com a oitava rodada de resultados surpreendentes e alguns tropeços na parte de cima da tabela, o Campeonato Brasileiro chega oficialmente na reta final de sua primeira fase. Na parte de cima da tabela, Cruzeiro e Ferroviária seguem liderando, e na parte de baixo, Sport Recife e 3B estão na zona de rebaixamento.
Mesmo com as mesmas equipes na liderança e zona de rebaixamento, a oitava rodada foi importante para impor algumas mudanças na tabela. O Palmeiras voltou a vencer e agora ocupa a 3º posição no campeonato. O São Paulo perdeu para o América-MG e viu o rival Corinthians retomar a 4º colocação. O América, com a vitória sobre as Soberanas, entrou no G8.
O Flamengo conseguiu um empate com o líder Cruzeiro, e se aproximou ainda mais do G8, ficando à apenas um ponto de diferença para o rival Fluminense. Equipes como Red Bull Bragantino e Real Brasília, que estão entre o G8 e a zona de rebaixamento, agora vão para o tudo ou nada nas últimas 7 rodadas para conseguir uma vaga no G8 de classificação para a segunda fase.
