A situação chegou no ápice após a derrota para o Palestino pela Sul-americana, há uma semana, quando jogador deu uma entrevista questionando sua presença no banco de reservas.
Jardim não gostou do comentário e resolveu afastar o atacante das atividades do clube dois dias depois, a partir do último sábado. Ele já havia sido liberado para treinar, nos últimos dias, mas não voltou a campo desde aquela partida e agora está fora da equipe de maneira definitiva. Na passagem rápida pelo clube, Dudu entrou em campo em 17 partidas — 11 como titular — e marcou dois gols.
No Palmeiras, seu clube anterior, Dudu também saiu com uma relação bastante desgastada. Atualmente, ele responde a um processo cível movido por Leila Pereira por danos morais por publicações nas redes sociais. Depois que a dirigente afirmou que ele sairia “pela porta de trás” do alviverde, ele afirmou que Leila Pereira era “mais falsa que nota de 3 reais” e proferiu insultos. No processo, a defesa do jogador alegou que a sigla VTNC, parte da publicação do atleta contra a cartola, não se tratava de um xingamento, mas da expressão “Vim Trabalhar No Cruzeiro”.
