Bahia x Botafogo: erros do alvinegro e de Paiva a três dias de jogo decisivo pela Libertadores preocupam; análise

O Botafogo sofreu mais um revés no Brasileiro. Desta vez para o Bahia (1 a 0), em Salvador. Um resultado que não chega a ser inesperado, dado os muitos desfalques: sete, ao todo. O problema foram as escolhas de Renato Paiva, principalmente do meio para a frente, que resultaram numa atuação inconsistente. Ainda mais porque, na próxima terça-feira, o time fará jogo decisivo pela Libertadores, contra o Carabobo, na Venezuela.

No Brasileiro, o atual campeão segue com nove pontos e caiu para 11º. Terá chance de se recuperar daqui a uma semana, contra o Internacional, no Nilton Santos. A boa notícia é que já contará com o retorno de alguns jogadores.

A partida na Fonte Nova até começou equilibrada. A opção por Newton como uma espécie de terceiro zagueiro deu liberdade a Vitinho e a Cuiabano para subir. E o time procurou fazer boas movimentações para se aproximar da área do Bahia. Principalmente pelos lados. Só que, na hora de criar, faltou repertório.

Mais uma vez, Patrick de Paula não correspondeu jogando mais à frente. Artur também esteve numa noite de muitos erros. E, como a bola não chegava na área, Igor Jesus e Mastriani só apareceram quando recuaram para buscá-la e tentar concluir à distância.

Na medida em que o Bahia fez a leitura das limitações do Botafogo, passou a explorá-las. Sua melhor estratégia foi atrair o rival, que não soube acertar a pressão alta, para lançar a bola por trás da última linha de marcadores.

Numa dessas, aos 38, Caio Alexandre aplicou um lençol em Patrick de Paula da intermediária e lançou Erick Pulga pela esquerda. O atacante avançou e, em linda jogada individual, deixou Marlon Freitas e Newton para trás. Cauly aproveitou o cochilo de Cuiabano e se posicionou no centro da área para escorar o cruzamento do companheiro de equipe.

A situação dos alvinegros só não piorou aos seis da etapa final porque Juba estava impedido, anulando o que seria o segundo gol do Bahia. Mas a jogada contou com os mesmos elementos do primeiro: avanço com facilidade pelo lado direito do Botafogo e muito espaço dentro da área. Só aí Paiva entendeu que precisava mexer — e não hesitou em começar por sacar Patrick de Paula.

Com as mudanças (principalmente a entrada de Alex Telles), o Botafogo passou a ter mais volume na frente e criar — ainda que na base do abafa e de bolas lançadas à frente ou cruzadas. Artur e Igor Jesus tiveram boas oportunidades para empatar, mas sem sucesso.

Assim como levou mais perigo, o Botafogo também se expôs. E ficou próximo de levar o segundo gol e até de terminar sem goleiro (John defendeu fora da área e só não foi expulso porque o VAR viu que a bola não ia para o gol). O placar, no fim, incomodou menos que a atuação. Não pode se repetir na terça-feira.
