Weltuntergangsstimmung und „Struber raus“-Rufe: Beim 1. FC Köln hat der nächste Patzer im zähen Aufstiegsrennen der 2. Fußball-Bundesliga übel auf die Stimmung geschlagen.
Nach dem enttäuschenden 1:1 (0:0) gegen den damit abgestiegenen Jahn Regensburg entlud sich der Frust der FC-Fans deutlich: Lautstark forderten sie das Ende von Trainer Gerhard Struber (48) und Sportchef Christian Keller (48).
Und am Abend gab es entsprechende Nachrichten. BILD erfuhr: Der FC hat sich von Struber und Keller getrennt!
Der Klub will die Entlassungen am Montag kommunizieren. In den letzten beiden Spielen in Nürnberg (Freitag, 18.30 Uhr) und gegen Kaiserslautern (18. Mai, 15.30 Uhr) könnte U19-Coach Stefan Ruthenbeck (53) auf der Bank sitzen. Aber auch über Kölns Ex-Retter Friedhelm Funkel (71) wird nachgedacht. Er hatte den FC 2021 durch den Relegationssieg gegen Kiel in der Bundesliga gehalten!
[–>Zuvor war es am späten Sonntagnachmittag zu einer Krisensitzung gekommen. Dort hatte sich der Noch-Vorstand um Präsident Werner Wolf mit Struber und Keller getroffen und die brisante Lage analysiert.
Beim Treffen soll Keller bis zum Schluss loyal zu Struber gestanden und die Arbeit des Österreichers verteidigt haben. Der Vorstand war dann auch mehrheitlich FÜR Struber, allerdings haben die Gremien sich dann gegen den Trainer ausgesprochen. Vor allem Rewe-Boss Lionel Souque (53) soll die treibende Kraft für das Struber-Aus gewesen sein.
Köln hat zwei Spieltage vor Saison-Ende die Tabellenführung an den HSV verloren und hat nur noch drei Punkte Vorsprung auf den Relegationsplatz.

Bereits nach dem Regensburg-Spiel hatte sich der Fan-Frust im Stadion entladen. Neben „Struber raus“-Rufen forderten viele Fans auch die Entlassung von Keller (seit April 2022 im Amt).
Struber hat sich noch nicht vom Team verabschiedet
Keller war es, der Struber (seit Juli 2024 im Amt) nach dem Regensburg-Spiel noch den Rücken gestärkt hatte und von einer vorzeitigen Trainerentlassung nichts wissen wollte. Keller: „Das kann ich ausschließen, weil ich von so etwas nichts halte.“ Jetzt sind Struber UND Keller weg.
Struber war am Abend von seinem Aus überrumpelt worden. Der Österreicher war eigentlich davon ausgegangen, dass er zumindest die Saison beenden darf. Nach BILD-Informationen konnte er sich noch nicht von der Mannschaft verabschieden.
Eine Trainer-Entlassung kurz vor dem möglichen Aufstieg ist keine Premiere in Köln. Bereits 2019 war Markus Anfang (50) am 31. Spieltag nach einem 1:2 gegen Darmstadt vorzeitig entlassen worden. Damals war der FC sogar Tabellenführer und stieg dann eine Woche später auf.
