Met Gala 2025 Red Carpet: Which celebrities and athletes rocked the most striking looks?

The 2025 Met Gala turned into a runway-meets-locker room spectacle Monday night as some of the world’s top athletes traded cleats and medals for couture-and absolutely owned New York’s biggest fashion event of the year.

While the night’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” honored the elegance and influence of Black dandyism and marked the first Met Gala theme focused on menswear in more than 20 years, it was Olympic icon Simone Biles and NFL star husband Jonathan Owens who delivered one of the most unforgettable moments on the carpet.

Biles dazzled in a short blue dress with a dramatic train and towering heels, giving high fashion a playful twist. Owens matched her energy in an all-white suit accented with fur and accessorized with a cane-yes, a cane-bringing luxury swagger to new levels. The power couple wasn’t just posing-they were setting the tone.

Chi Barbie stood out among the WNBA beauties

Also turning heads was Angel Reese, the WNBA breakout star, who returned to the Met Gala red carpet in style as part of this year’s athlete-packed host committee, which also included Sha’Carri Richardson. LSU basketball phenom Flau’jae Johnson made her debut in a stunning black and white gown, following in her former teammate Reese’s footsteps.

Meanwhile, Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, serving as one of the official co-chairs, didn’t disappoint in a custom ivory look by Wales Bonner, topped with a sharp Stephen Jones hat. Though honorary chair LeBron James was sidelined due to a knee injury, wife Savannah James repped the family in a sleek striped suit with a mermaid skirt.

A sporting constellation at the Met Gala

Other big-name athletes gracing the Met Gala carpet included:

Venus Williams, nodding to her tennis roots in a pleated emerald ensemble.

Serena Williams, stunning in an icy blue gown with a statement silver cover.

Dwyane Wade, bejeweled and bold alongside wife Gabrielle Union.

Joe Burrow, making his Met debut in a steely suit and signature ice-blue shades.

Saquon Barkley, showing off his Super Bowl-winning swagger in Thom Browne.

Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu, repping WNBA glam in coordinated black and white looks.

From championship rings to red-carpet royalty, this year’s Met Gala proved that when it comes to fashion, these athletes don’t just play the game-they run it.

How Aston Villa won the FA Youth Cup – and what it means for the future

There were tears, singing in the changing room and, rather appropriately given their age, soft drinks hurled in the air.Aston Villa’s under-18s had won their second FA Youth Cup in four years and the fifth in the club’s history following a 3-1 victory against Manchester City. Bass-heavy music pumped out of the Villa Park changing room where Jimmy Shan, Villa’s head coach, had invited his three sons to see “the carnage” of the celebrations.Advertisement“They are still partying, jumping around and playing music that isn’t my cup of tea,” he smiled. “They are buzzing.”Villa’s youngsters bathed in a remarkable achievement, not just in winning silverware but overcoming formidable opponents. Astonishingly, City had won their previous 26 straight games and won the league comfortably, so Villa triumphing felt a major statement of intent.Villa are gradually being regarded as among the most intelligent […]

Nuggets shock Thunder: Aaron Gordon plays hero again as Denver’s investment continues to pay off

Imagn Images At this point, the Denver Nuggets acquiring Aaron Gordon has to be up there with the greatest non-superstar trades in recent, if not all of, NBA history. The fit has been extraordinary from the start as Gordon, with Nikola Jokić as his quarterback, has unlocked the best imaginable basketball version of himself. On Monday, the dividends of Denver's investment continued to compound when Gordon sunk the game-winning 3-pointer with under three seconds to play as the Nuggets stunned the top-seeded Thunder, 121-119. Denver closed on a 19-6 run after trailing by 11 with under five minutes to play,  This is the second game-winner that Gordon has converted in these playoffs. The first, as most of you probably recall, came in Game 4 of Denver's first-round series vs. the Clippers -- when Gordon summoned his inner Lorenzo Charles by dunking home an […]

Padres express displeasure with strike zone, then exact revenge in comeback win

NEW YORK — Late Monday at Yankee Stadium, revenge was a dish best served with a pair of well-struck line drives. In the top of the eighth, in a contest that had seen two rain delays, continued in-game rain and seven fruitless innings by the visiting offense, home-plate umpire Adrian Johnson ejected right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. and then manager Mike Shildt after the two members of the San Diego Padres voiced their displeasure with the strike zone. Tatis’ ejection was the first of his big-league career and his first, he later said, since he was a teenager playing winter ball in his native Dominican Republic. Shildt’s ejection was his first of the season.AdvertisementSo, what did Tatis say to Johnson before a rare heave-ho precipitated a less unusual but still memorable sequence of events?“I forgot,” Tatis said, laughing, after the Padres’ […]

Thunder coaching strategy backfires horribly in Game 1 vs. Nuggets, but was Mark Daigenault wrong?

Imagn Images Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did two things when he sank two free throws with 13.2 seconds remaining in Game 1 between his Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets. First, and most importantly in the moment, he gave the Thunder a 117-114 lead. Second, and ultimately more importantly, he gave his head coach, Mark Daigneault, the most important decision of his season to date. The Nuggets needed a 3-pointer to tie the game. The Nuggets also happen to attempt the fewest 3-pointers in the NBA. The Thunder, meanwhile, not only had the NBA's best defense in the regular season, but allowed their opponents to make only 34.2% of their 3-pointers for the season, which was the lowest mark in the NBA. If the best 3-point defense in basketball could just prevent the the least eager group of shooters in the NBA […]
