Ein Skandal erschüttert das Basketball-Land Serbien. Im Zentrum: mehrere Profis von Euroleague-Vertreter Partizan Belgrad. Der Traditions-Klubs bestätigte per Pressemitteilung, dass drei Spieler in der Nacht zu Montag in eine Schlägerei in der Nähe eines bekannten Belgrader Nachtclubs verwickelt waren.

Die Straßen-Schlägerei endete für einen der Beteiligten schwer verletzt im Krankenhaus. Zwei weitere Männer trugen leichte Verletzungen davon.
In einem Video, das auf der Plattform „X“ (früher Twitter) kursiert, ist zu erkennen, wie ein Mann einem anderen eine Flasche auf dem Kopf zerschlägt.
Der Mann mit der Flasche ist aber eindeutig NICHT Bonga, sondern offenbar Jones.
Laut der serbischen Internet-Seite „Sportal“ sagten die verletzten Männer bei der Polizei aus, dass sich Karlik Jones (27/USA), Sterling Brown (39/USA), Bonga und Frank Ntilikina (26/Frankreich) in dem Club befanden.

Die Spieler waren nach dem Sieg in der ABA-Liga gegen Mega Basket (89:82) abends ausgegangen. In dem Nachtclub wurden sie und ihre Begleiterinnen dann offenbar rassistisch beleidigt. Die Spieler hätten die Frauen daraufhin verteidigt.
Bei „Sportal“ berichtet ein Augenzeuge: „Sie haben die Mädchen nur provoziert, weil sie in der Gesellschaft von Basketballspielern waren. Mir scheint, dass sie auch rassistisch beleidigt wurden, das heißt, sie haben die Mädchen beschimpft und sie gefragt, was sie mit dunkelhäutigen Jungs machen. Dann verließen sie den Club und warteten draußen auf die Basketballspieler, wo eine Schlägerei ausbrach.“

Der Vorfall ereignete sich gegen 4 Uhr. Die Polizei erhielt gegen 5.30 Uhr einen Anruf und rückte aus. Vor Ort traf sie nur noch auf die drei Verletzten. Nach deren Aussage sei der Streit von den Basketballern ausgegangen.
Laut der offiziellen Pressemitteilung von Partizan ist die Sache jedoch eindeutig. Darin heißt es: „Den Angaben der Spieler zufolge wurden sie von einer Gruppe Jungen rassistisch beleidigt, während Mädchen aus ihrer Gesellschaft mit den abfälligsten Namen belegt wurden, nur weil es in ihrer Gesellschaft Menschen mit dunkler Hautfarbe gibt. Als alle dachten, der Vorfall sei verbal beendet, wartete dieselbe Gruppe von Männern nach dem Verlassen des Clubs vor dem Club auf die Partizan-Spieler und griff sie körperlich an. Als Folge des Angriffs übten sie Vergeltungsmaßnahmen gegen die Angreifer aus.“
Partizan versicherte, dass ihre Spieler mit den Ermittlungsbehörden zusammenarbeiten und ihre Aussagen machen werden. Man werde den Fall nun intern beurteilen und nach dem Vereinskodex entsprechend bewerten.

Ob sie von ihrem Klub oder der Liga wegen des Vorfalls gesperrt werden, ist noch unklar.
Im letzten Jahr hatte sich Partizan-Profi James Nunnaly (34) nach einem Liga-Spiel mit Roter-Stern-Spieler Stefan Lazarevic (28) im Spielertunnel geprügelt. Das zeigten Überwachungskameras. Kurze Zeit später wurde Nunnaly gefeuert.

The Zips have been handed a postseason ban for the 2025 season after posting a failing Academic Progress Rate score for 2023-24. Akron football posted a 914 multi-year APR score, below the 930 threshold required to remain eligible for postseason competition. The APR measurement is built to calculate how effectively universities keep their athletes on track to stay eligible and graduate academically. Akron was handed practice reductions during the 2024 season as an initial punishment for poor APR, but failing to reach the mark in consecutive seasons led to the postseason ban.
