The Kansas City Chiefs‘ Patrick Mahomes and his wife seemed to skip the Met Gala in New York City on Monday, May 5, with the three-time MVP choosing to catch the NBA Playoffs instead.
The 29-year-old and Brittany made an appearance at the fashion event during the 2023 edition, but have now skipped subsequent occasions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; which is often frequented by celebrity A-listers.
For example, Lewis Hamilton, Sabrina Carpenter, Zendaya, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian turned out for the famous red carpet walk, but the quarterback couldn’t be spotted.
He appears to have had his feet up on his sofa in Missouri as he watched the Boston Celtics take on the New York Knicks in the Second Round of the 2024/25 NBA Playoffs based on social media.
What Travis Hunter Means For Jaguars’ Defense
He wasn’t the only celebrity figure to blank the night either, with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce similarly not in attendance despite the NFL tight end having a reputation for his fashionable looks.
“Can’t believe that shot didn’t go,” Mahomes posted to X.com, formerly Twitter, on Monday as he watched the Knicks claim a stunning 108-105 win over the champions at the TD Garden.
Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby starred on the night for the NYC team as they posted a combined 58 points, eight assists and eight rebounds, whilst Jayson Tatum was the Celtics’ standout player with 23 points, 16 rebounds and six assists.
What is the Met Gala?
The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City and marks the opening of the Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.
It is known for its celebrity guests and extravagant, theme-based outfits; which for 2025 was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
Why is the Met Gala held?
The Met Gala raises funds for the Costume Institute and celebrates the intersection of fashion and art.
Each year’s event supports the museum’s exhibitions and collections, while also promoting fashion as a serious cultural and artistic medium.
Tickets are sold at around $75,000, making it an exclusive night for the wealthier of the celebrity elite.

NBA playoffs: Donovan Mitchell scores 48, but has rough time in final minutes of Cavaliers’ collapse
We can start by making something very clear. The Cleveland Cavaliers wouldn't have had much of a chance in Game 2 without Donovan Mitchell. With key contributors Evan Mobley, Darius Garland and De'Andre Hunter all out Tuesday, it was left to Mitchell to pick up much of the slack. He did so capably, dropping 48 points on 15-of-30 shooting with nine assists, five rebounds, four steals and five turnovers in 36 minutes. He absorbed enough punishment to reach the free throw line for 21 attempts.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementHe also delivered the Cavaliers' highlight of the playoffs so far. With all of that said, it also can't be ignored how much of a role Mitchell had in Cleveland's epic collapse, blowing a seven-point lead with a minute left to fall behind 2-0 in the Eastern Conference semifinals series.Mitchell was clearly gassed going into the final stretch, […]

Hurricanes’ shot barrage prevails vs. Capitals in Game 1: Takeaways
WASHINGTON — For the Carolina Hurricanes, the 93rd time was the charm.Carolina needed that many shot attempts to beat the Washington Capitals, 2-1, in Game 1 of their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series. In the end, it was Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin beating Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson, fittingly, on a bit of a fluky one. Carolina, given the shot disparity and the five posts it hit in regulation, had earned a bit of luck.
