Kaum zu glauben: Das letzte Mal, dass es in Paris ein Fußball-Derby in der höchsten Spielklasse gab, war am 25. Februar 1990. Damals trafen in der Division 1, wie die Ligue 1 bis 2002 noch hieß, Paris Saint-Germain und Racing Paris im Prinzenpark aufeinander.
Das kleine Racing, bei dem von 1986 bis 1987 sogar der spätere Weltmeister Pierre Littbarski (65) ein kurzes Gastspiel gab (34 Spiele, 4 Tore), siegte 2:1, stieg am Saisonende aber in die 2. Liga ab und ist aktuell nur noch fünftklassig.

Am vergangenen Freitag sicherte sich der FC Paris dank eines 1:1 gegen FC Martigues vorzeitig den Aufstieg in die Ligue 1. Zum ersten Mal in diesem Jahrhundert hat PSG also wieder Konkurrenz in der Stadt. Und die hat einiges vor – mit viel Geld und der Kompetenz von Jürgen Klopp (57)!
Im November 2024 wurde der FC Paris von der Arnault-Familie übernommen. Die ist nicht nur schwerreich, sondern ebenso ambitioniert. Unter der Führung von Unternehmer Bernard Arnault (76), der mit einem geschätzten Vermögen von 233 Milliarden US-Dollar im vergangenen Jahr vom Forbes-Magazin als reichster Mensch der Welt geführt wurde, soll die Vormachtstellung von Scheich-Klub PSG zumindest ins Wanken gebracht werden.

Für weitere „Fire-Power“ neben der Arnault-Familie sorgt eine 11-Prozent-Minderheitsbeteiligung von Red Bull. Die verhilft dem Klub zu einer kompetenten sportlichen Expertise, u.a. in Person von Jürgen Klopp. Als „Global Head of Soccer“ bei Red Bull betreut der ehemalige Liverpool-Trainer etwa die Klubs von RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls und eben auch Paris. Bereits im Januar machte Klopp seinen Antrittsbesuch bei den Franzosen.
Die Ziele des Klubs für die erste Saison in der Ligue 1 sind laut der französischen Zeitung „L’Équipe“ klar definiert. Finanziell wolle man trotz der geballten Finanzkraft nicht über die Stränge schlagen, das Budget für das erste Transfer-Fenster soll aber immerhin zwischen 70 und Millionen Euro liegen.
Red Bull wird für die Anwerbung der besten Nachwuchstalente der Region verantwortlich sein, während die Arnaults das Finanzkapital bereitstellen. Das Ziel bestehe laut der Zeitung darin, erfahrene Spieler zu verpflichten, die mit der Liga vertraut seien, damit sie sich in eine Riege junger Talente einfügen könnten, die Qualität und Ehrgeiz mitbrächten. Langfristig hoffe man, sich jedes Jahr in die Top-6 der Liga spielen zu können.
Die Vorfreude der Fans auf die kommenden Derbys ist groß in Paris. Zumal die Duelle von einer Besonderheit geprägt werden: Die beiden Stadien Prinzenpark und Stade Jean-Bouin liegen nur einen Steinwurf voneinander entfernt. Damit wird das Paris-Derby das nächste in den fünf größten europäischen Ligen zwischen zwei Mannschaften sein, die sich nicht ein Heimstadion teilen.

Auch bei PSG freut man sich über den künftigen Konkurrenten. Klub-Präsident Nasser Al Khelaïfi (51) sagte bereits im November, dass die Übernahme von Arnault und Red Bull „wunderbare Neuigkeiten für Paris und den französischen Fußball“ seien. Ein möglicher Aufstieg würde die Liga und Paris bereichern. Man darf gespannt sein, ob sich seine Meinung nicht ändert, sollte der FC langfristig Erfolge einfahren …
