Cal Raleigh delivered a go-ahead two-run, pinch-hit single with one out in the top of the ninth to help the Seattle Mariners notch a 5-3 victory over the Athletics on Tuesday night at West Sacramento, Calif.

Julio Rodriguez had three hits, including a homer, for the Mariners. Miles Mastrobuoni had two hits for Seattle, which scored three times in the ninth to halt a two-game slide.

Miguel Andujar had two hits and two RBIs, including the tiebreaking single in the eighth inning that gave the Athletics the 3-2 lead.

Brent Rooker had three hits, two runs, two steals and one RBI and Tyler Soderstrom also had three hits for the Athletics, who lost for just the fourth time in the past 14 games.

Athletics closer Mason Miller had the night off so Tyler Ferguson (0-1) was called on to protect a one-run ninth-inning lead.

Ferguson walked Jorge Polanco with one out and Rodriguez followed with a sharp single to left. Randy Arozarena was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Raleigh batted for Mitch Garver and ripped a two-run single to right to score Polanco and Rodriguez. Dylan Moore followed with a sacrifice fly to right to score pinch runner Leo Rivas.

In the bottom of the ninth, Carlos Vargas struck out the first two batters before giving up singles to Rooker and Soderstrom.

Vargas then retired Seth Brown on a fly to right to wrap up his first big league save.

Seattle’s Emerson Hancock allowed two runs and four hits over six innings. He struck out two and walked two.

Jeffrey Springs started for the Athletics and allowed two runs and five hits over five innings. He fanned four and issued two walks.

Rooker led off the eighth with a hustle double to left against Gabe Speier. Soderstrom followed with a bloop single to left to put runners on the corners.

Collin Snider (1-0) replaced Speier and Andujar laced the third pitch up the middle for a ground single to score Rooker and give the Athletics the one-run lead.

Earlier, Seattle took a 1-0 lead with two outs in the top of the first when Rodriguez smacked a homer to center.

The Athletics tied the score in the bottom of the inning as Rooker drew a one-out walk, stole second with two outs and scored on Andujar’s single to right.

The Mariners moved ahead in the second as Ben Williamson singled with two outs and scored on Mastrobuoni’s double to left.

The Athletics knotted the score in the third on Rooker’s RBI single to center.
