Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars Game 3

Series tied 1-1

Series odds: Stars -160, Jets +135

A Tyler Seguin double-minor for high sticking just 17 minutes into regulation got the Stars off on the wrong foot. Dallas killed off the first minor, but Gabriel Vilardi scored a power-play goal 3:35 into play. Minutes later, Nikolaj Ehlers made it 2-0. Adam Lowry’s second-period tally added to the Jets’ lead, and Ehlers’ empty-netter sealed it.

Winnipeg has a lot to be hyped about from that Game 2 win. The return of Josh Morrissey was felt on the top power play unit and helped solidify the blue line. Dylan Samberg continues to show that he is a top shutdown defenseman in the league. And players like Ehlers, who have had playoff demons in the past, shined for the Jets.

Most importantly, Connor Hellebuyck stood tall after a really shaky Game 1. Thanks to the support of Winnipeg’s defense, he only faced 37 unblocked shots in all situations worth 2.3 expected goals, but he kept all of them out of the net for a shutout.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Florida Panthers Game 4

Toronto leads series 2-1

Series odds: Leafs -125, Panthers +105

No one can count out those comeback cats. Toronto went up 2-0 on the road, with goals from Matthew Knies and John Tavares. But Aleksander Barkov got Florida on the board in the first period.

A Tavares power-play goal, early in the second, helped pad the Maple Leafs’ lead. But the Panthers clawed back, with goals from Sam Reinhart, Carter Verhaeghe, and Jonah Gadjovich in the second period. A Morgan Rielly third-period tally tied the score 4-4 and forced overtime, where Brad Marchand scored the game-winner.

The Panthers drove play through stretches of Game 3, especially in overtime. The top-six chipping into the scoring was key here, because it gave Florida three scoring lines that few can match up to. That scoring helped make up for some iffy goaltending from Sergei Bobrovsky, who allowed 1.3 goals above expected in all situations, according to NaturalStatTrick. Joseph Woll fell slightly below average, too, but he also faced a heftier workload of 4.1 expected goals.

PGA Championship 2025: Unburdened, free-swinging Rory McIlroy eyes consecutive majors at course he’s dominated

Getty Images For 10 years, Rory McIlroy dreaded the questions that followed him around at every major championship. McIlroy went winless across 39 major starts after going back-to-back at the conclusion of the 2014 season. In at least 30 of those opportunities, he faced some form of the same question: What will it take for you to finally win again? McIlroy offered a variety of answers, often introspective and honest about the pressure he felt at majors, but as the years passed, he understandably grew exhausted trying to explain the unexplainable. There wasn't anything wrong physically with his game. That was evident by his performances at other events over the years. It was entirely a mental issue, and despite his best efforts, he couldn't figure out what exactly he needed to do -- much less explain that process to those on the […]
