I přes tíživou rodinnou situaci však manželka Fialův start na šampionátu podporovala. Hvězda Švýcarů se tak rozhodla reprezentovat, ačkoli omluvenku by v takové chvíli pochopil snad každý člověk. „Jsem jí nesmírně vděčný za to, jak mě podporuje i přesto, co nás potkalo. A tak v pondělí v Herningu Jessica Fialová nechyběla v hledišti s roční dcerkou Masie-Mae, která se mimochodem narodila páru loni během šampionátu v Praze, aby svého muže podpořila.
„Život zkrátka musí pokračovat. Kevin ukázal svou oddanost národnímu týmu. Nechápu, jak zvládl do turnaje takhle naskočit. Za poslední dva týdny měl jeden trénink a odehraje takový zápas,“ klaněl se Fialovu výkonu proti USA trenér Patrick Fischer.
