“Já apostei alto em esportes femininos antes e estou fazendo isso de novo”, escreveu Ohanian, no X, juntamente com uma reportagem dizendo que havia comprado uma participação de 10% estimada em cerca de £ 20 milhões (quase R$ 150 milhões, na cotação atual).
O empreendedor afirmou ter orgulho de anunciar o vínculo ao Chelsea FCW “como investidor e membro do conselho”.
“Estou honrado pela oportunidade de ajudar este clube icônico a se tornar o time favorito da Barclays WSL nos Estados Unidos e muito, muito mais”, escreveu ele, pai de duas meninas, Alexis Olympia e Adira.
Ohanian também investiu no atletismo feminino.
O Chelsea acaba de conquistar seu sexto título consecutivo da Superliga Feminina, tornando-se o primeiro time a terminar uma campanha de 22 jogos invicto. Elas também venceram a Copa da Liga e tentarão conquistar a tríplice coroa nacional quando enfrentarem o Manchester United na final da Copa da Inglaterra no domingo.
