Jamie Vardy looks set to end his Leicester City career on 500 games with Sunday’s home match against Ipswich Town planned as his final appearance for the club.
The 38-year-old announced last month he would be leaving after 13 years when his contract expires this summer.
Leicester, whose relegation to the Championship was confirmed last month, have two matches remaining this season but the club and player are planning for Sunday’s fixture at the King Power Stadium to be his last, so he can bid farewell to the home supporters. Leicester’s final match is away to Bournemouth on May 25.
Despite the dismal season for Leicester, the club hopes the final home game can be a tribute to Vardy, who has scored 199 goals in 499 matches and was part of the team that won the 2016 Premier League title. This success was followed by European campaigns and an FA Cup win, the first in the club’s history. Vardy also scored seven goals in 26 appearances for England.

The Leicester website, confirming arrangements for Sunday’s celebrations, stated: “Jamie, who will make his 500th and final appearance in Leicester City colours, will be celebrated throughout the matchday … Following the full-time whistle, a series of activity is planned to honour Jamie’s 13 years as a Fox, and for Jamie to lead the team, as well as a host of former team-mates, in thanking everyone in attendance for their support during that unforgettable period.”
When Vardy announced his impending departure, Leicester chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said on the club website: “Jamie is unique. He is a special player and an even more special person. He holds a place in the hearts of everyone connected to Leicester City, and he certainly has my deepest respect and affection. I am endlessly grateful for everything he has given to this football club.”
Leicester are 19th in the Premier League table on 22 points after picking up just five wins this season.

2025 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Projections: Emeka Egbuka could be the most intriguing rookie WR to watch
The 2025 NFL Draft had a monumental impact at the running back position. At wide receiver? Not so much. Travis Hunter is my WR29 in the projections below, but he didn't really move the projection needle for Brian Thomas that much. There is room for both of them to be great. Tetairoa McMillan is the second-highest wide receiver in the projections at WR36, but there was no one in Carolina I really wanted to draft anyway. If you think I am too low on Hunter and McMillan, understand that I rank them higher because of their upside. The same is true for the rest of the rookies, and a few of them did make a bigger impact on their teammates than Hunter and McMillan.I had Scott Boulanger on FFT Dynasty recently to talk about the Un Score WR model. The model […]

PGA Championship 2025: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele annoyed with rules officials
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It was unusual enough that the world’s top-ranked player double-bogeyed the 16th hole at Quail Hollow on Thursday, considering Scottie Scheffler had played 22 previous majors without making a double in the first round. But things got really weird when Scheffler’s playing partners in the first round of the PGA Championship – a couple guys named McIlroy and Schauffele – also carded 6s on No. 16, the start of Quail Hollow’s famed “Green Mile” closing, three-hole stretch.AdvertisementThese weren’t double-digit handicappers hacking it around a muni during a Thursday night league. These were the world’s three top-ranked golfers – with nine majors among them – being humbled on the same hole, their seventh after starting on the back. But Scheffler and Xander Schauffele, who won the PGA last year at Valhalla, pointed some of the blame for their ugly scores […]

Fantasy Football Breakouts 2025 2.0: Jamey Eisenberg’s league winners at every position heading into the draft
USATSI I don't love using rookies as breakout candidates, but I wanted to give you a different list of names from Breakouts 1.0, which was written prior to free agency and the NFL Draft. The players here, in Breakouts 2.0, are guys who have must-start potential -- so rookies qualify. And Travis Hunter could be a significant difference-maker. The first receiver selected in the NFL Draft by the Jaguars at No. 2 overall, Hunter is a unique talent as a two-way star out of Colorado. He's expected to play cornerback in Jacksonville, but receiver should be his primary spot. And that's a good thing. In 2024, Hunter had 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns -- along with 16 pass breakups and four interceptions on defense -- which ultimately earned him the Heisman Trophy. For the Jaguars, he'll be […]

Patriots’ Christian Barmore set to be ready for Week 1 after being medically cleared from blood clots
Getty Images New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore said Thursday, via ESPN, that he's been cleared to return to football activity after missing 13 games in 2024 while dealing with recurring blood clots. Barmore told ESPN he will be fully participating in voluntary organized team activities in the spring, and that he will be good to go in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders. "Yeah. That's the goal. I just have to keep following the medical team, but everything is looking really well," Barmore said. "It was one of the hardest times. I felt like I did everything in my power, wanting to come back. I don't want to ever be in that situation again, or anybody in the world to go through that. That stuff was no joke. It was a hard challenge."He'll return to a more crowded defensive […]

Steven Fletcher announces Wrexham departure
Former Scotland international Steven Fletcher is leaving Wrexham after two years at what he has described as “the most magical club I have ever played at”.The 38-year-old revealed the decision to call time on his spell at the SToK Cae Ras is “not by choice” as the Welsh side prepare for life in the Championship.AdvertisementFletcher played a big part in Wrexham’s two most recent promotions, particularly their most recent success when clinching runners-up spot behind League One champions Birmingham City.He finished the 2024-25 campaign as the club’s joint top scorer in the league with eight goals despite starting just two games. The need to manage a knee problem explains why Fletcher was largely restricted to cameos from the bench, invariably in the final half-hour.Announcing his departure on Instagram, the veteran striker said: “In my 22 years stepping onto a pitch, I […]

Ravens LB Roquan Smith on playing Bills in Week 1: It will be nice to ‘get a little payback’
Getty Images Last season, the Baltimore Ravens saw their season end in heartbreak. They lost to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the playoffs, 27-25, after star tight end Mark Andrews dropped what would have been a game-tying two-point conversion pass from Lamar Jackson with just 1:33 remaining in the game. In 2025, the Ravens won't have to wait long for their next shot at the Bills. In fact, they won't have to wait at all. Buffalo plays host to Baltimore in Week 1 of the NFL season, with the Ravens traveling up to Highmark Stadium for the season-opening edition of "Sunday Night Football." And linebacker Roquan Smith is thrilled about that prospect."Yeah, just how I like it," Smith said Wednesday, via NFL Media. "Revenge is best served as a cold dish, you know. So, it will be nice […]
