MBC-Star John Bryant, genannt „Big John“, muss nach der Niederlage bei Alba Berlin am Donnerstagabend (20 Uhr, live bei Dyn) gegen die EWE Baskets aus Oldenburg im Play-in-Finale ran! Der Sieger trifft in der ersten Runde der Play-offs auf die Bayern! Und genau diesen Gegner hat sich der US-Star gewünscht!

Bei der 78:81-Niederlage am Dienstagabend in Berlin hat der MBC noch während des Spiels Protest eingelegt gegen eine Schiri-Entscheidung. In der Pause wurde nämlich der Spielstand von den Schiris von 42:32 auf 43:32 korrigiert, nachdem sie einen Freiwurf noch mal per Video-Studie angeschaut haben. Da soll der MBC-Spieler Tkachenko den Ball berührt haben, bevor er reinging. Daher wurden zwei statt nur einem Punkt gewertet. Der MBC hat deshalb sofort nach der Pause offiziell Protest eingelegt — am Mittwoch hat der Klub aus Weißenfels dann allerdings den Einspruch zurückgezogen.

John Bryant kam 2010 in die BBL, spielte drei Jahre bei Ratiopharm Ulm, bevor er zum FC Bayern München wechselte. Von 2013 bis 2016 spielte der Center-Riese an der Isar, wurde 2014 Deutscher Meister.
2012 und 2013 wurde er zum MVP gewählt. Dann Gastspiele im Ausland. Erst bei Valencia (2016), dann bei der AS Monaco (2016–2017). Danach zog es ihn zurück nach Deutschland, wo er von 2017 bis 2020 und nochmal von 2021 bis 2022 bei den Gießen 46ers spielte. Zwischendurch lief er für Paderborn auf. 2022 schloss er sich dem Syntainics MBC an.
