Brazil forward Neymar is in talks with Santos over extending his contract through to 2026.
Santos president Marcelo Teixeira is involved in the discussions with Neymar’s representatives, and the expectation is there will be no problems reaching an agreement.
Neymar, 33, returned to Santos in January on a short-term deal that had been due to expire at the end of June.

The move marked his return to his boyhood club, 12 years after leaving to join Barcelona in a deal worth €90million.
Neymar has scored three goals and provided three assists in 11 appearances since his January move, but has been sidelined since suffering a left hamstring injury against Atletico Mineiro on April 17. He was visibly emotional as he left the field following the injury.
The forward’s return to Santos followed an 18-month spell with Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, where he made just seven appearances after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus in his left knee on international duty for Brazil in October 2023. Neymar agreed to a mutual termination of his contract with Al Hilal in January.
In his previous spell at Santos, after coming through the club’s academy, Neymar made 223 appearances, recording 136 goals and 66 assists.
This earned him a move to Barcelona, where he won two La Liga titles, one Champions League and the Copa del Rey on three occasions, before departing for PSG in 2017 for a world-record transfer fee of €222million.
He scored 118 goals in 173 appearances for the Ligue 1 club before making the switch to Saudi Arabia in 2023.
At international level, Neymar is Brazil’s all-time leading scorer with 79 goals in 128 appearances. He has not played for his country since 2023, and was recalled to the squad in March for their World Cup qualifiers before dropping out through injury.
