Some NFL schedule release videos are comedic. Others nostalgic. Many are petty. But this year for the Indianapolis Colts, it was controversial.
The Colts took down their Minecraft-themed video within hours of publishing it after Wednesday night’s league-wide schedule reveal. Indianapolis later issued an apology to Microsoft (for exceeding its usage rights of the company’s video game) and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (for mocking his legal troubles). Hill seemingly took no offense, posting later that the Colts should have left it up.

This brings up an interesting detail about what has become another milestone day on the NFL calendar. The NFL does not review schedule release videos before teams post them, league spokesman Brian McCarthy told The Athletic.
The minimal monitoring gives full creative freedom to the 32 NFL clubs, and that creativity is exactly what makes the videos such a staple on schedule release day. But it also feels a bit surprising, given the videos often critique other clubs, players and coaches.
Here’s a ranking of every 2025 schedule release video, which includes pop culture puns, tattoos and too many video game references.
1. Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers followed a similar format to last year’s Sims reveal with a Minecraft theme. This year, the video shows the ghost of Saquon Barkley haunting Giants fans, an overload of Will Levis memes, Anthony Richardson running out of gas and Eagles fans rallying to “Save Our Tush Push.” There’s a QR code that leads Raiders fans in Week 13 to … well … I’m not going to spoil it. You could notice something new with each watch. L.A. strikes just the right balance of funny and offensive in its roasts, which helps it stand out in a crowded category of video game-themed reveals.

2. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks lean into the 50th anniversary nostalgia with a throwback action figure commercial. The theme is fully embraced and villain figures cleverly depict the Seahawks’ opponents. It’s fast-paced and original.
Unbox the action. The Seahawks 50th Season schedule is here.

3. Atlanta Falcons
ATL Kart is fun, but the details make this one really great. The course selection lists the opponents by month, then, during the race, we break Bills’ tailgate tables, pass a free air station for New England’s deflated tires and spot a “We’re not talking about this” sign in Miami, roasting Bill Belichick’s awkward CBS interview.

4. Los Angeles Rams
Brenda Song’s sports fandom caught attention after her appearance in Netflix’s “Running Point,” and she went viral in March for her critiques of the Rams’ struggles to stop the run game. I thought she was perfect for this and delivered some of the best digs of all the schedule releases. Sending “all love” to the Cardinals for hosting the Rams’ wild-card game last season amid the California wildfires was a nice touch, too.
BRENDA. KNOWS. BALL.

5. Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals released last year’s video an hour late. So they proved they planned ahead this year by having linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. write a rap song for the schedule release, which doubles as a music video for “18 Bars.” It was cool to feel like we learned something new about a player in this.

6. Tennessee Titans
Tennessee switched things up after two years of the infamous man-on-the-street interview reveals, and it was the right move. The “Schedule-rizi” medical info ad is clear, concise and the side effects are cleverly matched to jab their opponents (impostor syndrome for the Texans, melancholy for the Patriots, jet lag for the Seahawks, slurred speech for the Saints, are among my favorites).

7. New York Giants
A reality TV reference is right up my alley. The Giants’ video is a spin-off of contestant intros on “Love Island.” For all the team mockery schedule release videos bring, I liked how this one poked fun at fan stereotypes of the opponents.
8. Baltimore Ravens
You probably had to have watched “Severance” to fully appreciate the Ravens’ video based on the hit Apple TV+ show. It touches on so many of the weird details from the series (yes, “Severance” includes scary numbers, baby goats and a marching band). One comment on X said it best: “I loved it but what did I just watch.” That’s exactly how watching “Severance” makes you feel. In other words, A-plus for execution.

9. Philadelphia Eagles
Some may call it boring, but I’m a fan of the simplicity. Philly spends 1:20 showing off the Lombardi Trophy before dismissing its opponents to a final credits-esque movie reveal. The reigning Super Bowl champs aren’t letting you forget it.

10. Kansas City Chiefs
The “Chiefs Cab” spin-off of “Cash Cab” is instantly recognizable. My first thought was: Why haven’t we seen more game show-like reveals? It takes a while (5:52) to get through the full schedule, but the trivia was interactive. Bonus points for getting host Ben Bailey in it (plus a cameo from Andy Reid). On the downside, it felt a little staged.
Buckle up.

11. Minnesota Vikings
This one grew on me. The concept is cool, and so are the tattoos, which blend Viking fandom into opponents’ symbols. But now I’m left wondering who these people were and how the Vikings got them to participate.
Scars fade.

12. Buffalo Bills
One AI reference out of 32 videos! How did we not have more? Josh Allen suggests GM Brandon Beane use AI to make the schedule release video. So … Beane recruits NBA legend Allen Iverson, the only AI he says he knows. The former 76er won’t say “Go Bills” at the end, opting for “Go Josh Allen” instead. A play on words (or, er, abbreviations) makes for good twists.

13. New Orleans Saints
“We feel good about where we’re at.” “We’re excited for the challenge.” The Saints introduce the next best way to avoid coach-speak cliches: Hire an “Angry Translator.” Comedian Coach Kazi brings some much-needed candor to this mock schedule release press conference.

14. Houston Texans
Houston combines a reference to a classic scene from “Scary Movie” with cameos from notable Texans fans like Twitch streamer and YouTuber Sketch, actor Dennis Quaid and Alix Earle, social media star and girlfriend of Texans WR Braxton Berrios.

15. Chicago Bears
The most popular name in the most recent NFL coaching cycle is also just a … popular name. I like the concept of focusing on Chicago’s new coach by accidentally leaking the schedule to Ben Johnson’s everywhere. But most of the video doesn’t have much to do with the schedule. Teasing at dates or opponents with some of the non-Bears coach Ben Johnsons would have made this stronger.
16. Washington Commanders
Washington’s “Roller Coaster Tycoon” theme models amusement park rides after its opponents. The best are when it names Chicago’s theme park “Maryland Miracle” while playing a voice-over of the call of last year’s Jayden Daniels’ Hail Mary against the Bears and the ChiefsAholic leaving “Chiefs Kingdom” in Week 8. I would’ve enjoyed more references like those.

17. Carolina Panthers
Panthers players meet for a top-secret schedule unveiling that ends up revealing secrets about themselves. Giving Xavier Legette — known for his thick Southern accent — a British one reminded me of those candy commercials that use kid voice-overs for adults.

18. Green Bay Packers
Full disclosure: I was quite confused after my first watch. The Packers take us inside RB Josh Jacobs’ dream (maybe nightmare?) as he searches for the schedule. There’s star power, a mix of current and former Packers players and a whole lot of weirdness.

19. San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco mascot “Sourdough Sam” and his mule “Clementine” encounter each of the 49ers’ opponents as they make their way through “Golden Mule” in this vintage video game. Each encounter brings four options for how to beat that opponent, a prime opportunity to make petty jokes. There are a few good digs, but I felt a little underwhelmed. And in a crowded video game-theme market, this one kind of blends into the background.

20. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders give “The Office” vibes as they take us through a tour of their headquarters. The bloopers at the end are a great touch — I’m surprised we don’t see more of those. Magicians Penn & Teller finding flags in the Chiefs segment is the highlight, but the overall video lacks excitement throughout the entire 6:50.
This is Schedule Release.

21. Jacksonville Jaguars
Fitness influencer and Jacksonville native Ashton Hall’s morning routine videos are TikTok famous, and it’s cool that the Jags got him to be a part of their release. Jacksonville leans into a viral moment, but it just didn’t resonate with me in the same way others did.

22. New York Jets
A picture inside a picture inside a picture. And it all comes to a satisfying full-circle ending. The only thing that’s lacking is a little more enthusiasm. I also like how the Jets took a jab at the Minecraft users in their caption.

23. Denver Broncos
Kids with helmets of the Broncos’ opponents go mutton busting (sheep riding) with Mark Johnson, the voice of the Colorado Buffaloes, narrating. But the order they are presented doesn’t match the schedule. At least we got a disclaimer that no kids or sheep were injured. And, to its credit, this was memorable.
Just rub some dirt in it 🐑

24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jon Gruden unboxes memorabilia of Tampa Bay’s opponents in a reference to his viral unboxing videos. The former Bucs coach and current Barstool personality brings the energy, which is needed because the video checks in as the longest of them all: 10 minutes, 49 seconds.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers
Steelers and former Wisconsin Badgers teammates Nick Herbig and Keeanu Benton were entertaining to watch on their “Sacking Sasquatch” mission. They stumble upon a campsite with multiple references to Pittsburgh’s upcoming NFL opponents, but nothing about those references is necessarily unique, and the ending misses the mark as it tries to come full circle.

26. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys dropped hints about their schedule all day during a live stream with star players like Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb playing golf, Jenga and other games. I like the Easter egg concept, but am skeptical anyone watched the full FOUR-HOUR stream.

27. Detroit Lions
Detroit takes us on a tour of the city, a concept that could have felt unique, but instead lacks a personal touch. It spends too much time directly outside of and around Ford Field. Points for being in the sub-three-minute club.

28. New England Patriots
Barstool’s Dave Portnoy hosts one of his classic “emergency press conferences” to reveal the Patriots’ schedule. There are funny moments, but it’s a bit hard to follow for schedule reveal purposes (added visual elements might have helped). Spoiler alert: Portnoy declares the Pats 17-0, “it looks pretty easy to me.”

Even the Browns players seem confused. The concept isn’t clear, the schedule drops are all out of order (ugh), and it’s creepy.
It’s time.

31. Cincinnati Bengals
I don’t think I was the only one wondering what was happening the entire time. It starts strong with Joe Burrow and a camera roll of the Bengals’ 2025 opponents, but after that … a whole lot of nothing. A camera accidentally left on could have caught some funny schedule reactions, but instead it’s a lot of silence.
