Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward shared a friendly rivalry moment Friday afternoon and gave a sneak peek of what the NFL fans are about to get, with two of the young quarterbacks fighting to show who’s the best player in the league.
Both had very different starts to their professional football careers: Cam Ward was selected No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans, with the hope of becoming the franchise quarterback for many years to come, and one of the faces of the NFL.

On the other hand, Shedeur Sanders – who many experts believed was one of the best quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft – fell all the way to the fifth round of the event, selected No. 144 overall by the Cleveland Browns. Currently, Ward has the best chances of keeping his job, while Sanders could be cut by his team before the regular season starts.

Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward got together for a Fanatics event to showcase their rookie jerseys, along with all the NFL rookies. The former Miami Hurricanes standout asked the Colorado Buffaloes superstar for his jersey, but Shedeur was not willing to give it to his rival as an exchange.
“I gotta sell it, bro,” Sanders told Ward. I’ve gotta have some type of money, you feel me? S***, I’m already down.” The Cleveland Browns rookie has a point, though. Cam Ward got a massive $48.7 million rookie deal for being a first round pick, while Sanders only got $4.6 million deal.
The No. 1 pick overall even got the chance to keep his college footbal jersey number, 1, thanks to the fact that legendary quarterback Warren Moon gave the Tennessee Titans his permission to wear that number. Meanwhile, Shedeur was not able to keep his No. 2 due to the fact that Browns already have a player that wears that number, DeAndre Carter. Sanders had to switch to No. 12.
Sanders and Ward could face each other in December
NFL fans are excited about the fact that Shedeur Sanders could face Cam Ward on December 7th, when the Tennessee Titans visit Cleveland to face the Browns, as part of Week 14 of the regular season. Hopefully, Ward would be the starter, and Shedeur would have make the team and might possibly see some action against his rival.
Cam already feels at home in Tennessee, as he’s learning everything from a new playbook – which he received right after the draft – to technique adjustments to names. “From learning the custodian’s name, (people on the cafeteria),” he said. “We have a great building, the front office. I am excited to get the journey going with the team we have, the group we have. I am ready to get the wheels rolling.”
Shedeur is also getting adjusted to his new life as part of the Cleveland Browns, and he’s taking it day by day. “I just find something I want to perfect, and just perfect it to the best of my abilities,” Sanders said. “And that’s all I really focus on, being here, just being a leader, being a great teammate. Doing what I need to do, whenever it is, so I’m just thankful for opportunity. Things could have been a lot worse, but I’m here smiling in front of you all at this facility right now.”
