Herzschlag-Finale in Tokio!
Er baut seine Führung in der 11. Formel-E-Saison immer weiter aus: Nissan-Pilot Oliver Rowland gewinnt das hochklassige Sonntagsrennen in Tokio und zieht in der Gesamtwertung weiter weg. Titelverteidiger Pascal Wehrlein holt sich Platz 2, Dan Ticktum von Cupra Kiro komplettiert das Podium – es ist der erste Podestplatz für Team Kiro seit dem Rennen in Mexico City 2018.
Das Rennen in Tokio hatte zahlreiche Führungswechsel zu bieten – in der 26. von 32 Rennrunden übernahm Rowland dann ein letztes Mal die Führung von Wehrlein. In der 29. Runde kam es zwischen Mortara und Barnard zu einer Berührung. Der McLaren-Pilot rutschte in die Streckenbegrenzung, das Safety-Car wurde auf die Strecke geschickt. Bitter für den Youngster!
Wehrlein und Rowland lieferten sich dann in der Schlussphase ein spannendes Duell – doch Rowland krönte sich bei dem Heimspiel für Nissan erneut zum Sieger.

Der Brite nach dem Sieg: „Ich habe mit dem Attack Mode heute keine gute Arbeit geleistet, das hat mich nach hinten geworfen. Aber dann habe ich das selbst in die Hand genommen und kam wieder gut zurück. Jetzt muss ich weiter Gas geben, die Führung weiter ausbauen und in Shanghai angreifen.“

Wehrlein: „Ich bin gerade noch ein bisschen enttäuscht. Ich konnte den ersten Platz nicht mehr verteidigen. Wir müssen schauen, was wir da hätten besser machen können. Nach gestern ist dieser Tag und das Podium dennoch wichtig.“ Am Samstag landete Wehrlein nach einem unglücklichen Rennverlauf auf Rang 13.

Am Wochenende des 31. Mai und 1. Juni ist die Formel E zu Gast in Shanghai – auch dort findet ein „Double-Header“ statt.
