Protože se šampionát koná ve dvou zemích, direktoriát turnaje už dopředu určil, že není možné, aby na sebe ve čtvrtfinále šli Švédové s Dány, protože obě hostitelské země mají právo na první zápas vyřazovací části na svém ledě. A na kolizní scénář může dojít, pokud by mužstvo Tre Kronor vyhrálo svou skupinu ve Stockholmu a Dánové skončili v Herningu čtvrtí.
Při takovém umístění obou pořádajících zemi by tedy čtvrtfinále nebylo klasicky 1A–4B, 2A–3B, 3A–2B, 4A–1B, ale hrálo by se „v rámci skupin“. Tedy 1A–4A, 2A–3A (oba duely ve Stockholmu), 1B–4B, 2B–3B (oba v Herningu).
Když Švédsko vyhraje stockholmskou skupinu a Dánsko v Herningu skončí čtvrté (což se může stát), tak by se čtvrtfinále nehrálo křížem, ale týmy by zůstaly na místě a čtvrtfinále hrály se sokem ze své skupiny. Česko by např. znovu hrálo proti 🇺🇸, či 🇩🇰.

Což by pro český tým znamenalo, že v případě triumfu ve skupině (ten velmi pravděpodobně zajistí jen výhry nad Německem a USA v závěru skupiny) půjde ve čtvrtfinále právě na Dány. Kdyby Češi skončili druzí nebo třetí, potkali by právě třetí, resp. druhý tým z téže skupiny. A to by nejspíš byly USA, protože Švýcaři už ve skupině hrají jen s Maďarskem a Kazachstánem.
MS v hokeji 2025
88. ročník mistrovství světa v hokeji je na programu v termínu od 9. do 25. května 2025. Hostí jej Švédsko a Dánsko, konkrétně města Stockholm a Herning.
Pokud však čtvrtfinále nesvede dohromady Švédy s Dány, bude se hrát klasicky mezi skupinami a dva týmy z každé čeká stěhování. Na koho by pak Češi mohli narazit?
Česko skončí ve skupině první
Pokud Švýcaři zvládnou oba zápasy s outsidery, Češi musejí z utkání s Německem a USA získat alespoň pět bodů. Ve čtvrtfinále by pak šli v Herningu na čtvrtý tým z áčka. Což bude nejspíš Slovensko, Lotyšsko nebo Rakousko. Teoreticky může na čtvrtém místě skončit i Finsko, pokud by prohrálo s Kanadou a Slovenskem a Lotyši nebo Slováci by vyhráli své oba poslední zápasy.
Česko skončí ve skupině druhé
Pakliže opět budeme počítat s variantou, že Švýcarsko nezaváhá s Maďarskem ani Kazachstánem a Češi neztratí s Němci. Rulíkova družina bude druhá jen tehdy, když Američanům podlehne v prodloužení nebo na nájezdy. Pak by šla v Herningu na třetí tým z áčka, což budou pravděpodobně Finové. Třetí můžou teoreticky skončit i Lotyši nebo Slováci, moc reálné to ale není
Česko skončí ve skupině třetí
Opět jedna premisa – Češi vyhrají v základní hrací době nad Německem a Švýcarsko vyhraje zbývající dva zápasy s outsidery. Pak budou reprezentanti třetí jedině, pokud neuhrají s USA ani bod. Ve čtvrtfinále by pak Rulíkův výběr čekal ve Stockholmu poražený z úterního večerního duelu Švédsko–Kanada.
Česko skončí ve skupině čtvrté
Nepravděpodobná varianta. Češi by museli oba zbývající duely prohrát, naopak nejen Švýcaři, ale i Němci s Američany už zaváhat. Pak by Rulíkovo družstvo šlo ve Stockholmu na vítěze skupiny A (Kanada nebo Švédsko).
