What a series. The Toronto Maple Leafs refused to be eliminated on Friday and now take their series against the defending champs home for Game 7. These teams have traded dominance throughout the series, with the Leafs going up 2-0 only for the Florida Panthers to take three wins in a row and bring Toronto to the brink. The odds favor Florida, but only slightly. This is what playoffs are all about.

Panthers at Maple Leafs Game 7
Series tied 3-3
After erasing the Maple Leafs’ 2-0 series lead and winning three straight, the Panthers pushed Toronto to the brink of elimination. But the Maple Leafs responded to a daunting Game 5 loss.
Toronto amped up the pressure in the first period, but had nothing to show for it. Then the Panthers dominated the second with a 32-5 shot advantage (12-2 went on goal) at five-on-five. The Leafs found their legs again in the third, and finally opened the scoring with Auston Matthews’ first goal of the series. He has generated a lot of chances, but had yet to convert up to that point; that would be uncharacteristic most years, considering his scoring ability, but was an extension of a rougher regular season. With 5:43 left, Bobby McMann set up Max Pacioretty with an insurance goal.
The Leafs found the keys to success in Game 6 — Matthews and Mitch Marner delivered, there was depth scoring and Joseph Woll was steady in net. Now the pressure is on in a decisive Game 7 against the reigning champs, potentially without Matthew Knies, whose injury status is a question mark.
