Former US President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, his team revealed in a statement on Sunday.
Last week, medical personnel evaluated Biden after he reported discomfort while urinating, and an abnormality was detected in his prostate. On Friday, they confirmed that Joe has a malignant tumor in his prostate that has metastasized to the bone.

“While this is a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone sensitive, which allows for effective management.”
The statement also said, “The president and his family are evaluating treatment options with his doctors.”

He was constantly under scrutiny for his health during his tenure as president.
At 82 years old, after a criticized performance in an election debate, he decided to abandon his campaign for a second term. Kamala Harris took the Democratic Party’s nomination but was defeated by Donald Trump, who returned to the presidency after a four-year absence.
The former U.S. president had tried to dispel these rumors in the past, but a recent book claims that his team hid his physical and cognitive decline. Prostate cancer is classified on the Gleason scale (1-10) according to how aggressive the cells are. Biden had a score of 9, indicating a highly aggressive form of the disease. In advanced cases, it can spread to the bones, which complicates treatment. If the cancer is hormone-dependent, hormone therapies can slow its progress.
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be sensitive to hormones, allowing for effective treatment. Treatment options are being reviewed with his doctors,” his office said at the end of the statement.
