Passiert war es in der 45. Spielminute bei einem bedrängten Wurf und einer unglücklichen Landung. Ernst hockte danach nur kurz auf dem Boden und lief dann sogar ohne Hilfe zur Bank. Dort hockte er den Rest des Spieles, fieberte bei jeder Aktion mit – ohne erkennbare Probleme. Umso größer nun der Schock.

Die MRT-Diagnostik im Universitätsklinikum Leipzig bei Mannschaftsarzt Prof. Dr. Pierre Hepp bestätigte nun jedoch diese schlimme Verletzung, die eine monatelange Pause nach sich zieht. „So eine Nachricht trifft einen jedes Mal unvorbereitet und mit aller Härte. Zuerst einmal tut es mir unglaublich leid für Simon, der in seiner Karriere schon wahnsinnig viel weggesteckt hat. Wenn man sieht, was er jeden Tag in sich und die Mannschaft investiert, dann schmerzt das umso mehr. Als Verein werden wir ihn in seinem Reha-Prozess natürlich bestmöglich unterstützen“, sagt Sportdirektor Bastian Roscheck.

Der SC DHfK hat noch vier Saisonspiele vor der Brust und glücklicherweise zumindest mit dem Abstieg nichts mehr zu tun.
