Alonsová reprezentovala Paraguay nejen na olympijských hrách v roce 2024, ale také v Tokiu o tři roky dříve. V Paříži se jednadvacetileté plavkyni nedařilo, na 100 metrů motýlek skončila ve své rozplavbě na sedmém a celkově na dvacátém místě. Nepostoupila ani do semifinále. Zopakovala tak nezdar z Japonska.
Alonsová na sebe upozornila tetováním na boku, kde má znázorněno pět olympijských kruhů. Navíc poté, co vypadla v Paříži hned na startu, okamžitě oznámila, že s plaváním končí. Později si založila účet na stránce OnlyFans, kde prodávala pikantní fotografie. Postupem času se stala hvězdou sociálních sítí. Například na Instagramu ji sleduje více než milion fanoušků.
Plavkyně se po náhlém ukončení sportovní kariéry rozhodla zůstat v olympijské vesnici, což jí bylo povoleno. Nicméně její chování mělo vyvolat kontroverze před začátkem her i v jejich průběhu.
Natolik mělo údajně znechutit paraguayský olympijský výbor, že ji z vesnice vyhodil. „Její přítomnost vytváří v týmu Paraguaye nevhodnou atmosféru,“ řekla tehdy deníku The Sun Larissa Schaererová, šéfka paraguayského olympijského výboru. „Z vlastní vůle nestrávila noc ve vesnici sportovců.“
Paraguayská média uvedla, že místo podpory kolegů z plaveckého týmu trávila čas v pařížském Disneylandu. Navíc se měla před olympiádou objevit v živém přenosu a říct: „Chci reprezentovat Spojené státy víc než Paraguay.“
Podle deníku Daily Mail také údajně odváděla pozornost konkurentů svým krátkým oblečením a socializací s ostatními sportovci.

Alonsová ale popřela, že by byla vyhozena z olympijské vesnice. „Chtěla jsem jen jasně uvést, že jsem nikdy nebyla odnikud vyhoštěna, ani vyloučena.“
Poté, co se jí jeden z fanoušků zeptal, jestli by znovu plavala, nebo se dokonce zúčastnila dalších olympijských her, na svém instagramovém profilu prohlásila: „Příští rok se vracím. Ale nevím, jestli to bude k závodnímu plavání,“ dodala.
Ke svému sportu se plánuje vrátit po absolvování Southern Methodist University v Dallasu v Texasu. „Budu se věnovat politologii a jednoho dne se ze mě možná stane ministryně sportu,“ tvrdí odhodlaně.
