Tom Brady has poured in his tributes to the Indianapolis Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, after the NFL executive died at the age of 65 on May 21 as the football community mourns the loss of a loved figure.
Brady, who won seven Super Bowl championships in his career, headed online to reflect and respond to the news of the passing when it was announced on Wednesday in a comment on Peyton Manning‘s heartfelt post.

“I am heartbroken to hear about Jim Irsay’s passing,” Manning posted to Instagram. “He was an incredibly generous and passionate owner and I will always be indebted to him for giving me my start in the NFL.
“His love for the Colts and the city of Indy was unmatched. His impact on the players who played for him will not be forgotten.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family and everyone in the Colts community. He will be missed. Jim, rest in peace my friend, #18.”
The ex-New England Patriots’ quarterback poignantly commented, “RIP” along with two love hearts and two prayer emojis for the owner who led the team to the 2006/07 Super Bowl win against the Chicago Bears.
Jim Irsay dies: What was the Colts owner’s cause of death?
So far, the exact cause of death for Irsay is unknown except that he passed away in his sleep, as per the Colts organization’s official statement released on social media. But he had been struggling with his health.
As recently as December 2023 he had to fight off a serious respiratory illness that left him in the hospital as he had to be nursed back to health.
TMZ reported police had found him unresponsive at his home in Indiana, showing discoloration and a weak pulse before being rushed to the hospital in a bid to save his life.
“We are devastated to announce our beloved Owner & CEO, Jim Irsay, passed away peacefully in his sleep this afternoon,” the Colts announced. “Jim‘s dedication and passion for the Indianapolis Colts in addition his generosity, commitment to the community and, most importantly, his love for his family were unsurpassed.
“Our deepest sympathies go to his daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, Kalen Jackson, and his entire family as we grieve with them.”
The Colts added: “Jim’s generosity can be felt all over Indianapolis, the state of Indiana and the country. He made philanthropy a daily endeavor. He never hesitated to help countless organizations and individuals live better lives.
“Music was one of Jim‘s passions and the ability to share his band and collection with millions of people across the world brought him tremendous joy. Simply put, he wanted to make the world a better place and that philosophy never wavered.
“Jim will be deeply missed by his family, the Colts organization, and fans everywhere, but we remain inspired by his caring and unique spirit.”
