O Real Madrid passa por uma reestruturação que vai além da chegada de Xabi Alonso ao comando do time principal. Entre as principais mudanças, está a chegada do ex-jogador Julio Baptista como novo técnico de uma das categorias de base da equipe merengue.
Aos 43 anos, Baptista volta ao clube onde atuou como jogador entre 2005 e 2008, após ser contratado por 20 milhões de euros junto ao Sevilla, em uma negociação conduzida pelo presidente Florentino Pérez. Sua trajetória como técnico começou no Valladolid, onde passou por diferentes equipes das divisões inferiores até chegar ao time reserva.
No Real Madrid, o brasileiro vai integrar a estrutura técnica de Valdebebas, centro de treinamentos da base, conhecido como “La Fábrica”. A expectativa é que ele atue no desenvolvimento de jovens promessas, com foco técnico e disciplinar — áreas nas quais o ex-jogador foi bastante elogiado durante sua passagem como treinador.
A mudança faz parte de um movimento mais amplo no clube. Segundo o jornal espanhol Marca, Raúl González, ídolo histórico e até então técnico do Castilla, a equipe B do Real, deixará o cargo. Álvaro Arbeloa, outro ex-jogador com passagem marcante pelos merengues, assumirá a função.
Revelado pelo São Paulo, Baptista chegou à Europa em 2003, pelo Sevilla, e depois defendeu clubes como Arsenal, Roma, Málaga e Cruzeiro, além de passagens por Orlando City (EUA) e Cluj (Romênia), onde encerrou a carreira em 2019.
