Emerson Leão admira o modo que Fábio, aos 44 anos, segue mostrando um ótimo rendimento. Titular absoluto do Fluminense, o goleiro é avaliado como um dos maiores injustiçados na seleção brasileira, tendo em vista a ausência de espaço durante o auge da carreira. Neste cenário, ao analisar o desempenho em campo, o tricampeão mundial pelo Brasil considera que 80% da capacidade se mantém intacta.
“Até hoje, com a idade de 44 anos, ainda está jogando muito bem. Esse foi um dos maiores injustiçados como goleiro. Eu sempre reverencio a capacidade dele e dou os parabéns a ele.”, disse Leão, ao podcast Milton Neves 100 Mi Mi Mi, no YouTube.
“Está com 44 anos e defendendo umas bolas muito boas. Não é o mesmo, mas ainda conserva 80% da capacidade.”, acrescentou.
Elogiado por Leão, Fábio lamenta falta de oportunidades
No passado, Fábio esteve no grupo campeão da Copa América em 2004 e foi convocado para a Copa das Confederações de 2003. Porém, o goleiro jamais esteve no elenco de uma Copa do Mundo e nunca ganhou sequência entre os titulares, algo que não é compreendido até hoje.
“Ninguém explica. Infelizmente, é uma força que foge da minha alçada. Eu sempre tentei fazer o meu melhor nos clubes, tive a oportunidade de ir para a seleção porque já ficava até meio vergonhoso os caras não me levarem porque se cobrava muito.”
“Aí, quando me levavam, levavam três. Tipo assim: os caras precisam desmaiar ou acontecer alguma coisa para que eu tivesse a oportunidade de jogar.”, desabafou Fábio, em entrevista à Placar.
Sem colocar prazo para deixar o futebol, Fábio vem adquirindo conselhos após o retorno de Renato Gaúcho ao Fluminense. Mesmo em reta final da carreira, o goleiro segue buscando evoluir para ajudar o Tricolor das Laranjeiras.
“É sempre bom estar evoluindo. Minha carreira foi dessa forma: tento sempre aprender ao máximo, sempre observando. É dessa forma que a gente segue jogando, porque estou sempre me corrigindo e evoluindo.”
“O Renato é multicampeão. Já atuou muito tempo dentro das quatro linhas, conhece muito e, como treinador, também tem muita experiência. A gente está aqui para ajudar. O mais importante é estar sempre à disposição do grupo e auxiliar de todas as formas.”, afirmou.
