Wontorra Laura
Am Sonntag ab 16 Uhr steigt in der Berliner Max-Schmeling-Halle das „Final 8“ der Icon League. Mit dabei: das Team Wontorriors FC von Moderatorin Laura Wontorra (36).
Nach einer schwächeren ersten Saison hat die Wontorra-Mannschaft es dieses Mal zum Endturnier der Kleinfeldliga geschafft. Schon vor dem Finale gibt es ein Weltmeister-Lob für Wontorra und ihr Team!
Toni Kroos (35), Präsident der Icon League, sagt: „Wenn ich sehe, wie ein Team wie die Wontorriors nun auftritt, das in der ersten Spielzeit weit hinten gelandet ist, dann beeindruckt mich das schon. Das war eine faszinierende Transformation. Auch das macht den Reiz der Icon League aus, dass es so schnell gehen kann. Aktuell ist die Leistungsdichte auch viel enger, so dass es noch mehr Freude macht, die Spiele zu verfolgen.“

Im Viertelfinale des „Final 8“ treffen die Wontorriors auf die Berlin Underdogs. Wontorra ist bereits jetzt begeistert: „Mein Highlight diese Saison ist, auch wenns cheesy ist, mein TEAM. Dieses Team und seine unglaubliche Wontorrior Mentalität. Keiner hatte uns auf dem Schirm, anfangs hieß es noch: ach, auch ein blindes Huhn findet mal ein Korn. Aber von Spiel zu Spiel und Teamabend zu Teamabend wurden wir eine Einheit auf und neben dem Platz und haben es allen gezeigt, wer wir sind – egal wie es steht, wir sind da und abgerechnet wird am Schluss.“
