Hráči Baníku vyšli na hřiště v bílých tričkách s nápisem Michal Freedrych. Ostravský trenér Pavel Hapal ho měl na sobě navlečené celé utkání. Anglické slovíčko „free“ znamená volný, a to by chtěl Baník pro Frydrycha, kterému běží desetizápasový trest za to, že v pohárovém utkání s Olomoucí nešťastně zlomil nohu útočníkovi soupeře Janu Klimentovi. Celý klub si přeje, aby blonďatý stoper mohl hrát hned od začátku příští sezony.
První pokus nevyšel, odvolací komise potvrdila rozhodnutí disciplinárky. Po duelu na Slavii má za sebou Frydrych polovinu trestu. „Není to v mých rukách, my udělali maximum. Teď se pokusíme o prominutí druhé poloviny. Uvidíme,“ řekl Hapal.
Vysvětlil i akci s tričky. „Přemýšleli jsme o tom delší dobu, vyšlo to na poslední utkání. Je to logické vyústění. Trest je neadekvátní, nesouhlasíme s ním, takhle jsme to vyjádřili,“ zmínil Hapal.
„Myslím, že prvotní impuls přišel z kabiny. Chtěli jsme udělat nějaké gesto a Míšu podpořit. Je to nesmysl. Pořád to nemá za sebou, nese to těžce. Vyčítá si, že nás oslabil v poháru a kvůli němu jsme nepostoupili, což je hovadina,“ připojil Prekop.
Baník v pohárovém semifinále s Olomoucí prohrál a vypadl, v lize skončil třetí. Má za sebou úspěšnou sezonu. „Míša odvedl obrovské penzum práce. Proto všichni doufáme, že trest se ještě upraví a budeme ho mít na začátek nové sezony,“ prohlásil Prekop. Záležet bude na disciplinární komisi, jestli Frydrychovi druhou polovinu flastru promine, nebo bude stoper Baníku stát ještě pět kol po letní pauze.
