Sunday May 25th MLB Best Bets: Yankees vs. Rockies, Mets vs. Dodgers Props

Article arrow_drop_down

When a team can’t get out of its own way and becomes an easy target, the rule of thumb is to continue firing until no longer fruitful.

The Colorado Rockies are that easy target.

Especially with the New York Yankees in town for a late-afternoon batting practice session against Antonio Senzatela.

We also have an angle on the other New York team, which has the nightcap with the Dodgers on Sunday.

Let’s swing away.

Yankees first-inning moneyline (+145, Caesars)

Working in your favor on this play is a guaranteed at-bat from Aaron Judge, who is threatening the .400 batting average mark. Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela has struggled mightily in the first inning at Coors Field, posting a 9.90 ERA in the opening frame and allowing 11 earned runs in 10 starts.

Yankees -2.5 run line (-145 at BetMGM)

Backing starter Will Warren after a 13-1 win in Max Fried’s Saturday start in Denver, the Yankees are by far the superior offense. Colorado’s trend in Senzatela starts has not been positive — three of the last four starts were losses by multiple runs. The Yankees have won three consecutive Warren starts by multiple runs.

Mets RHP Kodai Senga under 5.5 strikeouts vs. Dodgers (-110, DraftKings)

Senga has 47 strikeouts and an ERA under 1.50, but he’s not logging many innings and the Dodgers are one of the league leaders in patience. Los Angeles lays off the sinker/splitter to work the count, leading to Senga likely leaving the game before he records 18 outs for the seventh consecutive start. He has four strikeouts or fewer in four of his last eight starts.

Shohei Ohtani’s return to the mound is hinging on facts and feelings. Take a guess at which carries the most weight

CLEVELAND — For the third night in a row, Shohei Ohtani held his right arm aloft. After clobbering a freakish opposite-field blast through a swarm of Lake Erie midges on Tuesday night against the Cleveland Guardians, the three-time MVP began his trot in a 9-5 victory for the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was the third consecutive game in which Ohtani had gone deep. He now leads baseball with 20 home runs.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAs he rounded first, Ohtani lifted his arm and pointed toward the Dodgers bullpen, a gesture he makes after every homer. Around the league, that’s become a common salute of comradery and appreciation for a slugger to make. In Ohtani’s case, it also symbolizes something more. That’s because his arm isn’t the same as other hitters. Each time Ohtani raises his surgically repaired, immeasurably valuable elbow, the Dodgers superstar is simultaneously offering […]

Can the Red Sox fix what ails their broken offense?

As the Boston Red Sox continue to tread water, taking one step forward and two steps back, an inconsistent offense has undeniably been their biggest barrier to sustained success. On more than one occasion they’ve shown monstrous outbursts of power like the 19-run blowout on Friday against Baltimore that was followed by a 6-5 walk-off win the next game. But too often this season, those strong showings were followed with meager results, as evidenced by four runs over their next three games.AdvertisementThe trend continued Tuesday in Milwaukee.
