Česká sedmnáctka se na mistrovství světa představí poprvé od roku 2011, kdy skončila už po základní fázi. Nově se šampionát bude konat každý rok a v letech 2025 až 2029 jej bude hostit Katar. Letos se turnaj odehraje od 3. do 27. listopadu. Zúčastní se ho 48 zemí, které los rozdělil do 12 čtyřčlenných skupin.
Český tým se dozvěděl soupeře během evropského šampionátu, kde ho po úvodních dvou porážkách v pondělí čeká závěrečný zápas s Anglií. „Kluci si los užili a byly během něj reakce, abychom nedostali tuto skupinu a podobně. Nakonec to dopadlo takto, musíme postupně sehnat informace o soupeřích. Uvidíme, jakou potom přímo na turnaji budeme mít aktuální formu my, to bude to nejdůležitější. Za mě je favorit skupiny Amerika,“ řekl v nahrávce pro média trenér Pavel Drsek.
