Arne Slot vowed that Liverpool will strengthen this summer in a bid to defend their Premier League title — but there will be no “radical changes” to the squad.
The Dutch head coach knows their rivals will spend money in an attempt to close the gap after Liverpool were crowned champions of England for the 20th time.

“Hopefully that appetite (to build on winning the title) will be big,” Slot said.
“A few of the players have already shown that they can win multiple times. We know it’s going to be tough again next season.
“The clubs that we’ve competed with this season have in every window always invested a lot of money and they’re probably going to do so this summer as well. We did things differently last season. Apart from signing Federico Chiesa, we didn’t do a lot, and that makes it maybe even more special to win it this season.”
Liverpool have already lined up a £30million deal to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and are hoping to agree a fee with the Bundesliga outfit to sign his team-mate Florian Wirtz for what would be a club record fee.
Asked about the prospect of getting transfer business done early, Slot added: “I just want good players and, ideally, you sign them as soon as you can but it’s not always easy.
“This club doesn’t start from today onwards. There is so much hard work already done behind the scenes this season to find out which targets we have and try to sign them.
“There will be no radical changes because that would be a bit weird if we won the league. If the whole team stays together, we can still improve. It will never be drastic because this is the playing style I prefer and our fans want to see.
“I don’t know yet if all the players who didn’t play that much this season will want to stay. This is something we will find out in the upcoming weeks. We do it our own way. We are not hurried or rushed by anything.”
Slot reflected on a day to cherish as Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
“The energy in the stadium, how loud the fans were, the way the game ended, going down to 10 men and then seeing such a great reaction from the players and the fans which led to, in my opinion, a deserved goal,” he said.

“These players and these fans hate losing, and that’s what we showed again today. How passionate these fans are for the club and how special it is to win something.
“I think I could feel today that it was 35 years ago that they were part of it. It’s only been five years ago that we won the league but unfortunately the fans couldn’t be there.
“Now they were and I think everybody could see what it means for the fans. You play football for yourself, for your family, but definitely also for the fans, and we are privileged that we can play it in front of them.”
Slot was delighted that Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold got such a positive Anfield send-off after the boos which blighted his appearance at home to Arsenal a fortnight ago.
He said: “Maybe it also helps what an unbelievable half he played. The passes he played, if you make highlights of this, probably it’s going to take you three, four or five minutes.
“He deserved it. I’m very happy for him. I think everybody could see how difficult he had it after the other game, and that tells you how hard it is to leave a club like this.
“That’s all we can try to do: to make it so hard for the players to leave. Many of them stay, now Trent has made the decision to go, unfortunately for us. But it was great for him to have a farewell as he had today.”
