Čtyřiadvacetiletý Ital totiž zahučel ze srázu do hluboké rokle. Podle komentátorů Eurosportu přežil pád z výšky deseti až patnácti metrů, přičemž jeho dopad zmírnily větve stromů. Záchranáře ovšem čekal složitý úkol, aby se k Martinellimu vůbec dostali.
Vypomáhat jim musela i horská služba. Společně nakonec domácího cyklistu z rokle vytáhli a transportovali do nemocnice. „Je aktuálně při vědomí a jeho stav je stabilizovaný,“ uvedl druhodivizní tým.
A o pár hodin později přišly ještě pozitivnější zprávy. „Lékařské testy naštěstí vyloučily zlomeniny, odhalily pouze poranění brady a pravé hýždě,“ napsala italská stáj na sociální síti X.
