O atacante Antony retornou à seleção brasileira com o técnico italiano Carlo Ancelotti, que anunciou a sua primeira convocação de 25 jogadores, visando os duelos contra Equador e Paraguai, pelas Eliminatórias, que acontecem nos dias 5 e 10 de junho, respectivamente. Além dele, outros jogadores também voltaram a ser chamados, como Casemiro, Richarlison e Andreas Pereira, por exemplo. Do futebol brasileiro, sete nomes foram lembrados: Hugo Souza, Danilo, Léo Ortiz, Wesley, Alex Sandro, Gerson e Estêvão.

A principal ausência, porém, foi do atacante Neymar, do Santos. O craque estava na pré-lista e poderia voltar a vestir a Amarelinha, mas acabou ficando de fora. Sua última partida pelo Brasil foi em outubro de 2023, quando sofreu uma grave lesão contra o Uruguai. Desde então, nunca mais conseguiu ter sequência na carreira, seja atuando pelo Al-Hilal, quanto pelo Alvinegro Praiano, onde retornou no início desse ano buscando justamente voltar a jogar com frequência.

Neymar pode decidir a Copa do Mundo

Em uma entrevista concedida ao “De cara com o cara”, exibido pela Romário TV, no Youtube, Antony falou sobre seleção e sobre a possível volta por cima do santista, que conviveu com diversas lesões nos últimos anos. Primeiro, o ex-jogador Romário disse que se o Neymar estiver 100% na próxima Copa do Mundo, o Brasil tem grandes chances de ganhar. Então, ele perguntou para o atacante do Betis se ele concordava com essa afirmação.

O jogador, por sua vez, disse que sim, usando o jogo contra a Croácia, no último mundial, como exemplo. Embora a seleção brasileira tenha sido eliminada, Antony relembrou que o craque foi decisivo, marcando um gol na prorrogação. “O Neymar é um cara que eu nunca vi igual, o talento que ele tem, a facilidade de driblar, de fazer as coisas com a direita, com a esquerda.”, disse o atacante do Betis sobre o santista.

Importância para os outros jogadores

Na sequência, Romário questiona Antony se os jogadores que estão na seleção têm essa consciência de que Neymar é o cara que pode decidir a próxima Copa do Mundo para o Brasil. Então, ele diz que sim, comentando que os outros jogadores olham diferente para o craque: “com certeza, todo jogador quando olha o Neymar na seleção sabe que ele é o cara, o cara que vai resolver. A gente está ali para ajudar, mas sabemos da qualidade individual dele.”, pontuou.

Próximos jogos da seleção brasileira

Comandada por Carlo Ancelotti, a seleção brasileira volta a campo no dia 5 de junho, às 20h (de Brasília), diante do Equador, fora de casa. Depois, no dia 10, às 21h45, encara o Paraguai, na Neo Química Arena. As duas partidas são válidas pelas Eliminatórias. Em quarto lugar na competição, com 21 pontos, a seleção pentacampeã do mundo pode garantir vaga na próxima Copa já nesta Data Fifa, caso vença os seus jogos ou em caso de tropeços da Bolívia e Venezuela.
