„Když jsem žil na Azurovém pobřeží ve Francii, tak jsem plážový volejbal chodil hrát pravidelně. Teď v posledních letech po návratu do Česka preferuji jiné sporty. Ale jsem rád, že jsem dostal pozvání sem do Dolní oblasti Vítkovic. Jsem tady poprvé v životě a to místo mě uchvátilo,“ svěřoval se 52letý bývalý fotbalista.

„Jak jsem tady slyšel, tak i hráči sem rádi jezdí a z tohoto turnaje se opravdu stala prestižní událost po celém světě. Nedivím se. Panuje tady skvělá atmosféra a k tomu prostředí taková událost opravdu pasuje,“ dodal.

Bývalá opora Sparty Praha, německého Dortmundu či francouzského Monaka popsala, čím ho plážový volejbal zaujal. „Nejvíce mě na něm bavilo, že můžu padat na zem,“ usmíval se.

„Na druhou stranu je to ale opravdu technicky i fyzicky náročný sport. Musí se u toho i přemýšlet a pro fotbalistu, který je celý život zvyklý hrát nohama, je to zase něco nového. Hned, jak jsem to vyzkoušel, tak mě to chytlo. Byla u toho vždy skvělá zábava,“ líčil Koller.

Díky své výšce (202 centimetrů) si v mládí mohl volit klidně mezi volejbalem či basketbalem. „Já se na tyhle sporty ale necítil. Když už, tak bych radši hrál hokej nebo tenis. Volejbal jsem v dětství nehrál. Nebyly na to moc ani podmínky. To až po kariéře ve Francii,“ líčil.

Kvůli přítomnosti v Ostravě přijde bývalý skvělý útočník o sobotní finále Ligy mistrů, v němž se Paris Saint-Germain utká s Interem Milán. „Musím zase na otočku do Prahy, takže to asi budu jen poslouchat v autě. Už od čtvrtfinále jsem tipoval, že letos má PSG tým na to, aby to konečně mohli zvládnout. Asi jim i více budu držet palce,“ připustil Koller.

K Francii má silnější fotbalový vztah. Hrával za Monako a Cannes. „K Paříži zas tak blízko nemám, ale líbí se mi, jak to tam dali dohromady. Po odchodu velkých hvězd Messiho, Neymara a Mbappého už je to spíš takový klub, který více preferuje týmovost. Přál bych to i trenérovi Luisi Enriquemu. Může si to udělat podle svých představ a je to vidět. Opravdu si ten tým postavil tak, jak on chtěl, a nese to ovoce,“ mínil Koller.
