El lateral ha reconocido que está “jodido, porque perder este partido siempre duele más que cualquier otro, sobre todo por toda la gente que al final se siente frustrada”. Igualmente, ya está enfocado en el próximo partido contra el Atlético de Madrid para “intentar levantar cabeza”.
Sensación tras el derbi: “Fue una semana rara porque hasta el jueves no pudimos estar todos juntos, pero no son excusas. Empezamos bien, nos pusimos por delante y nos hacen dos goles, que sobre todo el segundo nos hace mucho daño. En la segunda parte no estuvimos a la altura del escudo porque no tuvimos la garra que había que tener para un partido así”.
Confianza en el entrenador: “El míster está trabajando bien, estamos contentos con él. Estamos todos jodidos como es normal, pero no tengo ni idea de nada raro con él”.
Concentración defensiva: “El primer gol es una jugada en la que tenemos una serie de errores. No creo que sea el problema solo de la defensa, porque ves el gol y son muchos detalles. Hemos estado viéndolo. El segundo puede ser más acierto de ellos porque es una jugada que Isco filtra bien. Es verdad que nos faltó contundencia y saber jugar esos últimos minutos de la primera parte. Con un empate la segunda mitad hubiera sido otra”.
Perder la ventaja: “Creo que nos faltó esa personalidad de saber que nos hemos puesto por delante y que el partido no se acaba en el minuto 20. Ya nos ha pasado varias veces este año de ponernos por delante, echarnos atrás y lo hemos terminado perdiendo. Ya es hora de que en estos nueve partidos no nos vuelva a pasar”.
Vestuario: “No hemos tenido charla, pero sí que todos somos conscientes de la importancia que tenía este partido y nos hacía especial ilusión. Seguramente en la semana habrá una charla y un antes y un después”.

Objetivo europeo: “Es verdad que venimos de perder dos partidos bastante dolorosos. Quedan nueve partidos y estamos a cuatro puntos. La posibilidad siempre está y más alta de lo que mucha gente piensa a nivel de números. Hay que darlo todo en lo que queda para que cuando termine el año podamos mirarnos a la cara y estemos todos contentos”.
Falta de calidad: “No creo que sea eso porque entreno todos los días con ellos y hay un talento increíble. Planteamos los partidos de una forma y después no se dan. No teníamos un plan B cuando nos pusimos por debajo en el marcador y nos costó, pero desde el inicio teníamos planteado tenerlos en bloque medio y salir en transiciones porque sabíamos que le íbamos a hacer daño. Y así fue, en la primera parte tuvo dos Isaac y en segunda nos afectó tanto el gol que no teníamos ese plan B para darle la vuelta”.
Irregularidad: “Llevo desde chico siguiendo al Sevilla y siempre lo he visto ganar cosas. A mí personalmente me duele porque me gustaría estar arriba como años anteriores. Siempre que me preguntan, te miento si digo que mi objetivo no es clasificar para Europa. Pero llevamos años raros y en este no estamos teniendo regularidad. Estamos a cuatro puntos, quedan nueve partidos y tenemos que dar lo mejor de nosotros porque lo tenemos muy cerca”.
