Série ve výsledku vypadá jednoznačně, ale na ledě to byl asi náročný boj, že?
Jako jednoduchou bych ji určitě neviděl. Hodně vyrovnané zápasy, ale vyjma jednoho jsme je vždy zvládli, což bylo nejdůležitější. Hráli jsme dobře, chytře, pospolu. Beru to jako zasloužený postup.

V závěrečném duelu jste inkasovali jako první, ale už v 6. minutě jste sám před brankou skóre otáčel. Co bylo v ten moment nejdůležitější?
Snažil jsem se najít správné místo. Hlavní je se odpoutat od beka, trochu jsem se od něj odstrčil, takže se to povedlo. Pak ke mně najednou vyplaval puk a už na mě jenom zívala prázdná branka.
Poslední minuty jste nedohrál po tvrdém zákroku hradeckého Jordanna Perreta mimo hru. Jak sekyra zabolela?
Šla do tvrdého, v tu chvíli nic moc. Ale je to dobrý.

Trápí vás ale dost zranění. Místo chybějícího Lukáše Sedláka k vám naskočil na centra elitní formace Jan Mandát. Jak se vám líbily jeho výkony?
S Mandym jsme hráli už pár zápasů v základní části a vždycky zaskočil skvěle. Je to vynikající hráč, který udělá spousty práce. Je hodně bruslivý a silný v soubojích, zvládl výborně celou sérii i celé play off. Jenom doufám, že mu to vydrží. Uvidíme, kdo a jak se vrátí zpátky.
Zavřeli jste pusu kritikům, kteří po nepovedeném závěru základní části Pardubice odepisovali. Co se se začátkem play off změnilo?
Tým se dal trošku dohromady. Už poslední zápas základní části proti Karlovým Varům jsme odehráli dobře. Některé věci si prostě víc sedly, ale asi ani nedokážu říct proč. Ať je to, co je to, tak to funguje. A to je důležité. Play off je prostě nejdůležitější část sezony a včas jsme si to všichni uvědomili. Předvádíme týmové výkony. Blokujeme střely, zvládáme oslabení, konečně jsme si pomohli přesilovkami. To nás nasměrovalo k postupu.

Jáchym Kondelík po čtvrtém duelu zmiňoval, že týmu série porážek v závěru dlouhodobé fáze pomohla. Vidíte to podobně?
(zamyslí se) Nechci teď dělat chytrého. Nějaké věci vidím, ale to nemá cenu rozebírat. Hned do prvního zápasu play off jsme vkročili dobře. Tím jsme získali sebevědomí, začali jsme hrát pospolu, snažíme se chválit jeden druhého. Najednou je ten tým cítit, což zatím rozhoduje.
Zvedli jste se hlavně v obranné činnosti, v práci před vlastním gólmanem i ve středním pásmu. Čím to je?
Je to o detailech. Stále na nich pracujeme, něco si pořád říkáme, ale to dělají všichni. Fakt nedokážu říci, čím to je, že jsme se takhle zlepšili. Zároveň to nechci přeceňovat. Udělali jsme finále, což je fajn, ale čeká nás ještě jedna série. Je potřeba se na ni připravit. Teď budeme muset odehrát ten nejlepší hokej.

Jak klíčové bude přenést si lauf a vítěznou mentalitu i do finále?
Samozřejmě se o to pokusíme. Udělali jsme dva kroky, třetí nás čeká. Zase bude strašně těžký. Ale to je ta výzva, proč jsme tady. Uděláme pro to všechno a uvidíme, jak to dopadne.
Řešíte, na koho v souboji o titul narazíte?
My s tím nic neuděláme, to musí oni, rozhodne se jinde. (usmívá se) Kdo na nás vyjde, na toho se připravíme.
Vás osobně čeká extraligové finále po dlouhých šestnácti letech…
Ty jo, to už je dlouho. Každé finále je samozřejmě příjemné. Hrajeme celou sezonu a na konci chceme zbýt mezi posledními dvěma. Je to nejhezčí část sezony. Tyhle hokejové momenty si člověk pamatuje nejvíc. Takže se samozřejmě těším.
