Klub-Patron Uli Hoeneß (73) spricht im Interview mit Welt am Sonntag über die bittere Kohle-Wahrheit des FC Bayern und den Vertrags-Knall zwischen den Münchnern und Thomas Müller (35).
Das Bayern-Urgestein bekommt nach 16 Jahren als FCB-Profi keinen neuen Vertrag mehr. Dabei hätte Müller gerne beim deutschen Rekordmeister noch weitergemacht.
Hoeneß: „Die ersten Gespräche haben auf Thomas den Eindruck gemacht, dass man sich vorstellen kann, mit ihm weiterzumachen. Mit dieser Vorstellung ist Thomas dann in das konkrete Gespräch mit Max und unserem Sportdirektor Christoph Freund gegangen. Und war überrascht, dass die beiden – in Absprache mit allen Gremien unseres Klubs – ihm diese Botschaft überbrachten. Darauf war Thomas nicht vorbereitet. Das hat er in seinem Statement zum Ausdruck gebracht, was man total verstehen kann.“
Die Folge einer Aussage von Sport-Boss Max Eberl, der Müller öffentlich eine unkomplizierte Vertragsverlängerung in Aussicht gestellt hatte.
[–>Hoeneß: „Aber so etwas ist natürlich immer von der sportlichen Situation abhängig. Deshalb hat sich Max auch wegen seiner Aussage im Januar entschuldigt und selbstkritisch gezeigt. Ich finde es immer ein Zeichen von Stärke, wenn jemand Fehler zugibt. Zugleich muss man auch berücksichtigen, dass Thomas in der Vorrunde wesentlich öfter im Einsatz gewesen ist und die Situation im Januar also schon noch eine andere war.“
Die Entscheidung für das Müller-Aus sei von allen Bayern-Verantwortlichen mitgetragen worden. Auch aus finanziellen Gründen, wie Hoeneß in Welt am Sonntag offenbart: „Wenn die wirtschaftliche Situation des FC Bayern noch die wäre wie vor, sagen wir drei Jahren, wäre die Entscheidung im Fall Müller vielleicht anders ausgefallen.“
Die bittere Kohle-Wahrheit: „Der FC Bayern muss ganz klar sparen. Von unserem Festgeldkonto ist nicht mehr viel da. Wir müssen wirtschaftlich umdenken.“ Um ein Käuferklub zu bleiben und große Transfers zu realisieren, müsse der Klub heute „unter Umständen in die Kreditabteilung der Bank. Das ist tatsächlich neu für den FC Bayern.“
Geht es nach Hoeneß, soll Müller unbedingt auch in Zukunft eine Rolle beim Rekordmeister spielen: „Immer, wenn wir gesprochen haben, habe ich Thomas gesagt: Du weißt, dass wir sehr stark auf dich setzen, wenn es um die Zukunft des FC Bayern geht. Insofern ist das Thema Thomas Müller für mich überhaupt nicht abgeschlossen. Im Gegenteil.“
Sollte sich Müller zu einem Karriereende im Sommer entschließen, rät Hoeneß ihm, sich auf der ganzen Welt im Sport umzusehen. Die Hoeneß-Vorstellung: „Er geht mal drei Monate die NBA studieren, drei Monate die NFL, dann nach England beispielsweise zu Manchester United. Er kommt dann mit einer gewissen Erfahrung wieder. Und bespricht mit uns, was er beim FC Bayern künftig machen könnte.“
Vorher soll Müller ihm aber noch einen Traum erfüllen, von dem Hoeneß im WamS-Interview berichtet: „Ich habe geträumt, dass wir das Finale der Champions League gewinnen. Und der Thomas das entscheidende Tor schießt. Das würde ich ihm von Herzen wünschen. Manchmal werden Träume ja wahr.“
