O Estádio Monumental de Santiago viveu uma noite de confusão, tragédia e descontrole que levou ao cancelamento da partida entre Colo-Colo e Fortaleza, pela Libertadores. Dois torcedores morreram antes do início e, aos 25 minutos do segundo tempo, torcedores locais quebraram o acrílico que separa a arquibancada do campo e invadiram o gramado. Apesar de todo este cenário, a suspensão do jogo ocorreu a contragosto da Conmebol, responsável pela organização do campeonato.

É o que relatam as autoridades chilenas. A noite de quinta-feira deixou algumas perguntas no ar. E uma delas foi justamente por que o jogo demorou tanto a ser cancelado.
– O governo ordenou a suspensão, apesar de que o desejo dos organizadores era outro – alfinetou o Ministro de Segurança Pública Luis Cordero.
Segundo o site chileno Emol, durante o período de quase duas horas entre a entrada dos atletas nos vestiários e o anúncio oficial de cancelamento a Conmebol fez forte pressão para que o jogo ocorresse. Entendia que, por só restarem 20 minutos a serem jogados, era possível concluir a partida. Os dois clubes resistiram, alegando que os jogadores não “tinham cabeça” para retomar a disputa.
Enquanto a Conmebol insistia, o campo era usado para a saída de torcedores que nada tinham a ver com a invasão e eram encaminhados a uma saída considerada mais segura em outro ponto do estádio. Isso porque o lado externo do Monumental registrava conflitos entre chilenos e policiais.
– Por instruções do Executivo, o delegado comunicou aos organizadores a suspensão da partida. Apesar da opinião deles – reforçou o ministro.
A morte dos dois torcedores (uma garota de 18 anos e um menino de 13, aparentemente esmagados por uma cerca de proteção) antes da partida desencadeou a revolta da torcida, e uma série de confrontos teve início do lado de fora do Monumental. O delegado presidencial da região metropolitana Gonzalo Durán admitiu que esperava uma postura mais proativa da Conmebol.
– Estávamos, é claro, verificando as condições de segurança da área ao redor, dos arredores, em vista dos incidentes que estavam começando a ocorrer. E, claro, esperávamos que o organizador do evento fosse o primeiro a ordenar imediatamente a suspensão da partida, já que não havia condições dentro do estádio, por onde os torcedores haviam entrado, gerando um nível de destruição raramente visto – disse nesta sexta, ao justificar ao responder sobre demora das próprias autoridades chilenas em decretar a suspensão do jogo.
Agora, o caso foi encaminhado para os órgãos judiciais da Conmebol. Em comunicado, a entidade afirmou que “tendo em vista que foram seguidos todos os procedimentos estabelecidos no Manual de Clubes, o caso será remetido aos Órgãos Judiciais da CONMEBOL para futuras determinações. Todas as informações referentes a eventos dentro e fora do estádio serão enviadas à Unidade Disciplinar da Confederação Sul-Americana de Futebol”.
A Unidade Disciplinar aguarda o envio dos relatórios da partida e demais informações para entender de quem são as responsabilidades pelos episódios que levaram ao cancelamento da partida. De acordo com o artigo 19 do Código Disciplinar da Conmebol, se o cancelamento da partida for de responsabilidade de um dos clubes ou de pessoas pelas quais eles possam ser considerados responsáveis, “será considerado como tendo perdido a partida por 3 a 0”.
