The Aaron Rodgers saga is starting to wear thin on the Pittsburgh Steelers. The legendary NFL quarterback is known for dramatizing his future-he did it a couple of years ago and, just days before the Draft, chose to play for the New York Jets. Now, the same story is playing out again, and it’s beginning to frustrate the Steelers.

The Steelers are in need of a quarterback. At the moment, they have Mason Rudolph, who, after spending a year with the Tennessee Titans, is back with the team coached by Mike Tomlin. However, the team is desperate to add depth at the position.

Former New York Jets No. 1 pick wonders “what the hell is wrong” with Aaron Rodgers after he ‘quit’ on his team

With uncertainty around whether Rodgers will sign with the team, the Steelers have turned their focus to the upcoming Draft. There had been talk about Shedeur Sanders, who has seen his draft stock plummet and could be available at the 21st overall pick. But reports from Pittsburgh suggest that Mike Tomlin is becoming increasingly excited about Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss.

Jaxson Dart could be a surprise first-round pick

According to multiple reports, former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart visited the Pittsburgh Steelers, which has fueled speculation that the team is genuinely excited about the possibility of adding him.

At just 21 years old, Dart is considered one of the top quarterback prospects-possibly even ranked above Shedeur Sanders at this point, whose draft value has dropped significantly.

If the Steelers want to secure Jaxson Dart, they’ll need to use their first-round pick (21st overall), since they don’t have a second-round pick. They traded pick No. 52 to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for star wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Jaxson Dart’s 2024 stats with Ole Miss

During the 2024 season, Jaxson Dart delivered an outstanding performance for the Ole Miss Rebels, throwing for 4,266 yards and 29 touchdowns, with only 6 interceptions. Averaging 328.2 yards per game, Dart was a key piece of the team’s offensive success throughout the season.

In the 2025 Gator Bowl, held on January 2, Dart was named Most Valuable Player after leading Ole Miss to a win over Duke. His strong performance in that game has significantly boosted his draft stock heading into the NFL Draft.
