Neuer Job für Luka Modrić (39)!
Die Real-Madrid-Legende ist jetzt Klubbesitzer und Miteigentümer von Swansea City. Das gab der englische Zweitligist am Montagabend offiziell bekannt.
In der Mitteilung ist zu lesen: „Swansea City freut sich, bekannt geben zu können, dass Ballon d’Or-Gewinner Luka Modrić dem Club als Investor und Miteigentümer beigetreten ist.“
Damit folgt der Mittelfeldspieler einem neuen Trend im Fußball – auch weitere Stars investieren in niederklassige Klubs.

Modric: „Dies ist eine aufregende Gelegenheit. Swansea hat eine starke Identität, eine unglaubliche Fangemeinde und den Ehrgeiz, auf höchstem Niveau zu spielen. Ich bin überzeugt, dass ich meine Erfahrung als Spieler auf höchstem Niveau in den Verein einbringen kann. Mein Ziel ist es, das Wachstum des Vereins positiv zu unterstützen und dabei zu helfen, eine spannende Zukunft aufzubauen.“
Klar ist: Der Kroate steigt nur mit einer Minderheit von Anteilen ein. Außerdem ist der Einstieg nicht der unmittelbar nächste Schritt in seiner Karriere. Denn: Modric hofft nach wie vor auf eine Vertragsverlängerung bei Real. Sein aktueller Vertrag läuft noch bis zum Sommer. Erst vor Kurzem verkündete er, dass er in Madrid seine Karriere beenden will.
Ob die Los Blancos länger mit ihm planen, bleibt abzuwarten. Bei Swansea wird er in jedem Fall eine Rolle hinter den Kulissen übernehmen. Der walisische Klub steht derzeit auf Platz 12 der zweiten englischen Liga. In diese stiegen die Swans 2018 ab – nachdem sie sieben Jahre lang in der Premier League spielten und 2013/14 sogar an der Europa League teilnahmen.
Mit seinem Investment befindet sich Modric in bester Gesellschaft. Auch die Real Stars Kylian Mbappé (26) und Vinicius Jr. (24) haben in Fußballvereine investiert. Mbappé ist Mehrheitseigentümer des französischen Zweitligisten SM Caen, soll 20 Millionen für 80 Prozent der Klub-Anteile gezahlt haben. Vinicius Jr. stieg erst im Februar beim FC Alverca, die in der zweiten Liga Portugals spielen, ein.

In der namhaften Runde befinden sich auch David Beckham (49, Inter Miami), N‘Golo Kanté (34, Royal Exelsior Virton aus Belgien), Gerard Piqué (38, FC Andorra) und David Villa (43). Villa investierte gleich in zwei Klubs: CF Benidorm aus Spanien und den Queensboro FC aus den USA.
