Tune in to the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday morning at 7am ahead of what is poised to be an exciting and unpredictable battle for the season’s second race win – live on Sky Sports F1.

After Lewis Hamilton dominated the Sprint events in Shanghai to claim his first triumph as a Ferrari driver, early title leaders McLaren bounced back in main qualifying with Oscar Piastri impressively delivering the first Grand Prix pole position of his career.

But with George Russell alongside the Australian on the front row after a brilliant last-gap lap in his Mercedes, points leader Lando Norris in third and Max Verstappen fourth ahead of the Ferrari pair of Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, a 58-lap Grand Prix on an overtaking-friendly track in which strategy is poised to be pivotal is not to be missed.

Sky Sports F1’s live build-up from the Shanghai International Circuit starts at 5.30am on Sunday morning ahead of lights out for the race at 7am.

The moment Sebastien Buemi had both his front tyres explode off his Toro Rosso car during practice at the 2010 Chinese Grand Prix

China joined the F1 calendar in 2004 and every race has been held at the Shanghai International Circuit, which is known for high tyre wear and long back straight where there is plenty of overtaking into the Turn 14 hairpin.

F1 returned to Shanghai for the first time in five years in 2024, as the event was absent due to the coronavirus pandemic, so there is little recent data for the teams compared to other tracks on the schedule.

The smooth track surface and long, high-speed corners means the car with the best aerodynamics will stand out.

For the first time in nearly two years, Jose Altuve did not bat in the leadoff spot when the Houston Astros played the Detroit Tigers on Monday. The 15-year veteran requested the change, according to Astros manager Joe Espada. Heat Culture is finally starting to show cracks, so what’s next for Miami after getting swept by the Cavs?

Getty Images The San Antonio Spurs were the picture of NBA stability for the better part of 20 years. Then Tim Duncan retired. Within two years, LaMarcus Aldridge had attempted to force a trade and Kawhi Leonard actually succeeded in doing so. The Spurs are only now emerging from the mediocrity that followed, and the biggest reason they've done so is not some internal recalibration, but a few lucky ping pong balls on lottery night. NBA team cultures are fickle. The league changes quickly. If you're standing still, you're probably moving backward.Which brings us to the Miami Heat, a team so confident in its culture that in 2023 it literally started wearing a jersey with the words "Heat Culture" embroidered on the chest. For three decades or so, Heat Culture was nearly impenetrable. The Pat Riley era has included more […]

Up front or in midfield, Merino could hold key for Arsenal against PSG

Few would have believed it earlier this season, when there were questions around the wisdom of signing him, but Mikel Merino faces Paris Saint-Germain this week as one of the most important players to Arsenal's hopes of reaching the Champions League final. The 28-year-old has excelled since being put up front by Mikel Arteta, providing six goals and four assists in 13 games, his best displays yet coming in the last-eight win over Real Madrid, when he scored in the first leg and set up both goals in the second. News of his return to training this week comes as a major boost. Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka took most of the plaudits at the Bernabeu but Merino was just as good, his contribution rewarding the faith of his manager and calling to mind conversations with some of those who […]

Liverpool need at least five or six players - three to go straight in the team and three to be strong backups - with still so many areas of the […]
