Chinese GP: When to set your alarm – and how to watch on Sky Sports

Article arrow_drop_down

Tune in to the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday morning at 7am ahead of what is poised to be an exciting and unpredictable battle for the season’s second race win – live on Sky Sports F1.

After Lewis Hamilton dominated the Sprint events in Shanghai to claim his first triumph as a Ferrari driver, early title leaders McLaren bounced back in main qualifying with Oscar Piastri impressively delivering the first Grand Prix pole position of his career.

But with George Russell alongside the Australian on the front row after a brilliant last-gap lap in his Mercedes, points leader Lando Norris in third and Max Verstappen fourth ahead of the Ferrari pair of Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, a 58-lap Grand Prix on an overtaking-friendly track in which strategy is poised to be pivotal is not to be missed.

Sky Sports F1’s live build-up from the Shanghai International Circuit starts at 5.30am on Sunday morning ahead of lights out for the race at 7am.

The moment Sebastien Buemi had both his front tyres explode off his Toro Rosso car during practice at the 2010 Chinese Grand Prix

China joined the F1 calendar in 2004 and every race has been held at the Shanghai International Circuit, which is known for high tyre wear and long back straight where there is plenty of overtaking into the Turn 14 hairpin.

F1 returned to Shanghai for the first time in five years in 2024, as the event was absent due to the coronavirus pandemic, so there is little recent data for the teams compared to other tracks on the schedule.

The smooth track surface and long, high-speed corners means the car with the best aerodynamics will stand out.

Neuvěřitelné. Oba týmy vstřelily dva góly za jedenáct sekund, Florida v brutální koncovce

Florida po dvou výhrách v aréně Tampy Bay, doma v prvním domácím utkání za vyučenou (1:5). A s obhájcem prvenstvím dlouho ztrácela.

2025 NFL Draft: Could Browns taking Shedeur Sanders after Dillon Gabriel pan out? Here’s the upside on Cleveland’s surprise strategy

Less than 24 hours after publicly endorsing the talents of Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry faced the media with a similar task Saturday afternoon.Describing another quarterback’s fit and value at the draft spot?AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDrafting high-profile Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders 50 picks after selecting Gabriel warranted explanation.“We talk oftentimes about quarterback being the most important position in the sport,” Berry said. “It wasn’t necessarily the plan going into the weekend to select two quarterbacks, but as we talk about, we do believe in best player available, we do believe position value, and we didn’t necessarily expect him to be available in the fifth round.“It got to a point where he was probably mispriced relative to the draft.”The Browns are taking two swings at rookie quarterbacks in Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel. The Panthers, the bad boys of the NHL, are ‘very comfortable with who they are’

SUNRISE, Fla. — The Florida Panthers are not only the resident bad boys of the National Hockey League, but they’re also the defending Stanley Cup champions. They illustrated both facts on Monday.Florida threw a couple of flagrantly illegal hits, killed a five-minute major penalty while trailing in the third period, overcame the sobering ruling of a game-tying call being overruled by an offside challenge, tied the game anyway and used a dramatic spurt to push the Lightning to the brink in a 4-2 victory.AdvertisementEverything about this night was a microcosm of why the Panthers have owned the Eastern Conference for the past three seasons and why they appear to have surpassed their bitter rivals for potentially long-term state bragging rights. One more win will do it.This one didn’t feel like it was going to be a Panthers’ win, but then their […]

Cavaliers crush Heat in most lopsided series in NBA playoff history: Historic sweep by the numbers

Getty Images Sometimes, series that end in four games can be closer and more competitive than the word "sweep" suggests. The Cleveland Cavaliers' sweep of the Miami Heat, which concluded with a 138-83 rout on Monday, was not one of those series.Cleveland entered Monday's Game 4 having outscored Miami by 24.9 points per 100 possessions in the first three games of the series. The team had stomped the Heat in Game 3 on Saturday, leading by as many as 40 points in a 124-87 rout. And it proceeded to crush them even more viciously on Monday. The final margin of victory was 55 points, but you should know that the Cavaliers had a 70-25 lead late in the second quarter. You should know that the Cavs led by as many as 60 points in the fourth. They finished the series having […]

Up front or in midfield, Merino could hold key for Arsenal against PSG

Few would have believed it earlier this season, when there were questions around the wisdom of signing him, but Mikel Merino faces Paris Saint-Germain this week as one of the most important players to Arsenal's hopes of reaching the Champions League final. The 28-year-old has excelled since being put up front by Mikel Arteta, providing six goals and four assists in 13 games, his best displays yet coming in the last-eight win over Real Madrid, when he scored in the first leg and set up both goals in the second. News of his return to training this week comes as a major boost. Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka took most of the plaudits at the Bernabeu but Merino was just as good, his contribution rewarding the faith of his manager and calling to mind conversations with some of those who […]

‘We have to become even better’ – where can Liverpool improve?

Arne Slot has masterminded Liverpool's record-equalling 20th top-flight title, but, worryingly for the rest of the Premier League, the Dutchman says his side will only get better next season - so where can the champions strengthen?Slot may have become the first Dutch coach to win the Premier League after the Reds dismantled Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday, but it has not taken long for the Liverpool head coach to start turning his attention towards defending the title next season. "We can definitely improve," Slot said ominously when asked to look back on his incredible debut campaign in charge at the club. "I think we have to become even better." Liverpool need at least five or six players - three to go straight in the team and three to be strong backups - with still so many areas of the […]
