Jogando diante de sua torcida, a equipe alvinegra quer encerrar a hegemonia do maior rival na competição, voltar a comemorar taças e tirar ainda mais pressão sob o elenco e Ramón Díaz depois da queda na pré-Libertadores
Para ter os selecionáveis (Carrillo, Memphis Depay e José Martínez), o clube tem se esforçado para tal. À princípio, todo o time estará à disposição do treinador, embora haja certa dúvida se Garro poderá enfrentar o Palmeiras. Ainda assim, a escalação deverá ser basicamente a mesma da partida no campo palmeirense.
Acostumado a viradas nas decisões do Paulistão (reverteu nas três últimas conquistas placares adversos na ida), o Palmeiras buscará o inédito tetracampeonato nestas mesmas condições. Mas, ao contrário dos outros anos, no qual decidiu em casa, o Verdão terá que buscar a reação na casa adversária para ter mais um título para si.
Com Marcos Rocha lesionado, Mayke será o favorito a ser titular da lateral-direita neste Corinthians x Palmeiras, enquanto Micael segue na zaga devido à ausência de Gustavo Gómez. Os atletas que estiveram com suas seleções poderão também estar em campo. A novidade poderá ser o retorno de Maurício, recuperado de lesão.
